"Any time any business wants to open a store or a business in Torrance, we're pleased about that because it creates employment opportunities for people to work in Torrance," Scotto said. "And the fact that their original store on Torrance Boulevard is a huge success, we're encouraged that we'll get more sales tax from the store they want to open up."
What about Wal Mart? They were not welcomed into Torrance. That would have created a whole lot more jobs, and taxes. You'll welcome a store that fits your needs apparently.

Wal Mart is nothing but a jobs killing corporation. They have single handedly destroyed many small towns in middle America by forcing the mom and pop shops to close. They also don't advertise in local newspapers. They tout their "made in America" crap ad nauseam. For many, the Wal Mart honeymoon has been over for a long time.

Welcome to our neighborhood BevMo. I've always enjoyed your stores!

With a name like "BevMo". Perhaps, it should be in Lomita, or further east. Where it's even darker! Yikes

I noticed the new BevMo! driving by the other day. Yea! I wonder if they will do something special on opening day?

If you've never been to a BevMo! ck it out. They even have wine tasting. This location will do very well.

(years ago this location was a movie theater with a tiny playground across from it!)

All we need, another place to dispense alcohol. And will someone teach 'maryjane' how to spell and write. I think she means 'difference'. Also, there is no punctuation or capitalization in either of her two "written thoughts"...I dare not call them sentences. Isn't "maryjane" slang for marijuana?

Wow, you are truly ignorant. Many good people live in Harbor City. Ever heard of the Del Amo Woods? You probably live in Wilmington. Lomita is a great town too. Torrance has way more crime than Lomita. Bevmo is a high end store, not akin to "corner liqour stores".

Actually I live in Lomita. Yes, there are good parts of Harbor City - hence the Del Amo Woods. However, there are plenty of bad parts of Harbor City and that was to what I was referring to. Of course Torrance is going to have more crime than Lomita, Lomita isn't even 2 square miles. A lot of Lomita's crime is probably a spill-over from the less than desirable area of Harbor City.

Why do so many of these article discussions turn into territorial disputes. IE: My town is better than your town!!!! It's all one megalopolis. Of course we would all like to live in the high places, but the roads go all directions. Can't we all just get along? lol

I agree 100%! Sometimes the comments are funny and other times folks just get carried away. Life is too short for petty squabbles!!
