Well , pittsburg has mostly ghetto areas. But their are nice areas too, like edgewood and forest hills. But to me it is ghetto. The worst areas to move are Wilkinsburg, Homewood, Garfield, NorthSide, and The Hill. I'm from wilkinsburgh which iss way ghetto, but HOMEWOOD is ghetto as fck. Like, most of the time if you order pizza the delivery man will either get shot or robbed. Some of my family members have been shot from just sittin on their porches. Its a shame. Once I saw a guy get shot in his head while ridin on his bike! Its sad. But I dont live in dat state anymore. Hmu @ north carolina !

Pittsburg is very ghetto...Cant really go anywhere without people trying to sell you some kind of drug.Tired of seeing all these young teens running the street at all hours of the night. Pittsburg is not the way it used to be when i was growing up. Now its to dangerous to go anywhere. I live in Parkside and its so ghetto. Most of my friends wont come down here during the night because they are to scared which i understand.

whoever says that pittsburgh is very dangerous is an idiot. maybe if you were comparing it to montana, yes it is dangerous but i have lived here my whole life and it ain't that dangerous. if you move towards north park pittsburgh then there is very very low crime. there is even less near south park. in the east it gets worse but still not terrible. homewood is the worst neighborhood in pittsburgh and it isn't even marked on the top 100 most dangerous cities. what i consiter very dangerous is chester pennsylvania and compton california NOT pittsburgh!

My family got here to the U.S in the late 70's early 80's right after the Laos/Vietnam war. El Pueblo was one of the places we resided in besides West Blvd. As a kid it felt like home but it's not the kind of environment you want to live in forever and definitely not the place you want to raise your kids in... but then again I kinda miss my childhood- running around hopping the fences, the Child Care center next door and all the few good people that was around ... These memories got me drifting back in time- post-dramaticly - GOD BLESS everyone stay strong n Drug free

Pittsburg is not the best city to live if you have a son/daughter that has to go to school there. Too many "urban kids" embracing a thuggish-ghetto mentality. It's like your walking into the Dangerous Minds movie. Most of the kids/teens you can tell will never amount to anything. Sucks for the few students who actually go to school to learn!

This applies to all grades k-12.

Even the private schools rank poorly. Overall though the teachers are great though, much much respect to them!

PIttsburg is hella ghetto!!i wouldnt move there.....my cousin used to live there and they would even deliver pizza to his area after 6!! wat kind of crap is that?? And there was always rowdy young black males doing donuts with their cars infront of his house. And at night when your driving in his neighborhood drug dealers would walk up to my car and ask me if i wanted to buy any drugs from them like if they were selling something legal! On top of that the neighborhood had their own police office with 2 police cars from the PPD. JUST FOR THAT NEIGHBORHOOD! It was like if i was in Oakland or Richmond! Theres allot more stuff that hapened while he lived there like people runing threw his backyard to get away from police. And all we heard were gunshots at night and sirens.Good luck moving there!

Pitt used to be bad only in some areas though in the early 90s like 10th st, el pueblo and west blvd. But that city changed so much since then that it's probably as dangerous as Antioch, Brentwood and Oakley. Which in my opinion are really safe cities and not dangerouse at all. Just compare those small towns to areas in REAL cities like Oakland, Richmond, SF, or Stockton. Now those cities are really fucked up, gang culture and crime families have been in those cities for decades not to mention their murder rates are high every single year for example Antioch in 2009 which had its worst murder rate ever and it was about 8 per 100,000 ppl, in those cities I mentioned they average atleast 20 in 100,000 ppl and thats on a good year. East contra costa is just a suburb thugs from there decide to be in gangs and choose to live a criminal lifestyle because they think its "cool" atleast the majority, in cities like oakland richmond and stockton they are born into it.

I'm born and raised in PITTSBURG and I love my city and represent it well. This city is rich in culture and history and very family oriented. Most of the "natives" are related one way or another or their families are very close regardless of race. Recently,(As with all of east Contra Costa County) there has been an influx of people moving here from the bay area cities: Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, etc and along with the rise in population came the rise of crime and blight. So would I now label my city ghetto now? No. I'm proud to be from here and will always rep my city!

When you move here from a nice place, your jaw drops. I moved here for a job, and am shocked at how much litter, mattresses, shopping carts, stray dogs etc are everywhere. The people here just simply do not care about ANYTHING!!! That is sad. I can't wait to move. We should just bomb this hole place and kill all the worthless people who live here. PERIOD!!!

Then help clean it up, because all the litter, mattresses, and bums make it disgusting. And people walk around with a "I don't care" mentality. They seem straight worthless.

I like your comment. I moved here for work, but I am holding off having a baby because I hate Pittsburg and the people here. I will have to move first before having a family. The people here walk around like gang members with an ignorant "I don't care about ANYTHING" mentality. The litter, mattresses, abandoned shopping carts and thugs are just disgusting. There's stray dogs everywhere too. Everyone just seems worthless. They litter out of their car windows while driving. My jaw drops. I can't wait to move. Good riddance pittsburg. Ignorant wretches !!!
