Hey Dubby!!!

I'm no longer in Phoenix. I'm now in that dead corpse of a sister city to Maysville, HOMER! Just wanted you to know since you missed me so much.

I'll be sure NOT to drive thru Maysville. I certainly don't want to contribute to the police pocket fund currently underway there.

Take care Dub -

Maysville is about as dead as Homer. Homer is not as corrupt as Maysville however. Oh, that's right, Maysville has a barney cop who must ask permission to pull his bullet from his pocket.
Everyone knows Jackson County has the most corrupt county law enforcement with Jefferson, Houshton, Braselton, and Pendegrass running a close tie for second. Maysville is the runner up, but there is an excuse. Half of Maysville lies in Jackson County - Ok Barney, now go apply for JC sheriff you do quailfy.
The GBI is, now, investigating the "set-up," bogus traffic stops by the Maysville police. Gotta love video evidence. It does not lie.

Maysville is definitely a speed trap of the worst sort. The local Barney Fife and the pantie waisted judge have a genuine disregard for all Georgia anti-speed trap laws.
They hide at night. Illegal.
Never show the radar results to motorists. Illegal.
Being 6 miles an hour over posted speed limit is not classified as speeding. Illegal.
I recommend not buying anything in this town. The local Barney Fife's are killing the growth of this community.

I don't know where you read any Georgia Speed Trap Laws, but you sir, are completely misinformed or just plain clueless.
There is no difference in day and night visibility laws for the police. In fact the Georgia Statute for Operating Speed Detection Devices has no mention of day or night when it discusses visibility of officers.
There is no requirement they show you the radar results. None. In fact the only thing they are required to do is offer you an opportunity to have them check the calibration of the unit. That's all. Where do you get your information.
And being six miles over the speed limit is illegal. It is very much classified as speeding. The OCGA defines speeding as operating a motor vehicle over the posted speed limit. 1 mile an hour over is speeding. Try to read a little. It could greatly increase your ability to have accurate information.

I was going through Maysville the other when a Maysville officer who was sitting in what looked to be a private driveway there on Hwy 8spur and Hwy 98, said I was doing 51 mph which is under the posted speed limit for Hwy 82 spur I really forgot about the school being there and I didn't even think about the time it was, I had already passed the school anyways, he asked me did I see the school flashing light I did not see a flashing light, and I am not a speeder I am not a criminal, I been in public safety for over 18 years and I respect law enforcement and have friends who are officers, but this officer was kind of smart... There was no way I was doing that speed because I was fixing to have to stop for the stop sign...... I see if your going 60 to 80 and above how that would be speeding but good grief, sometimes these newer cars you can not even tell it, I am going to pay the ticket but I am not going through that town no more, and Yes some dept do over do handing out tickets. I have seen officers do things and go fast in their patrol vehicles when not even going on calls, this officer made a u turn in the middle of hwy 98 and hwy 82 spur that to me was not safe and should have been illegal for him to do..... I have been through Maysville several times and this is the 1st time I ever been pulled over.. If officers is going to pull people over for going 1 mph to 6 mph over the speed limit then everyone should get pulled over, even them, I have even known for a fact that some officer drink and drive but hey guess its okay for them but let someone else do it and they lock em up........ I just don't feel like I was doing 51 mph....... And as for as a Georgia Speed trap law here it is : Georgia has a speed trap law that applies to all police agencies except State Patrol. Some of the regulations regarding Speed Measuring Device (SMD) use include:(1) cannot issue tickets for less than 10 mph over posted speed limit,(2) cannot use SMD on downhill road with more than a 7% downgrade,(3) cannot use SMD closer than 500 feet inside a changed speed limit zone (4) police vehicle using SMD must be seen by all approaching vehicles at least 500 feet or more, and (5) any municipality using SMD must have warning signs on major road at city limits or county limits stating so.
