As a resident of Maysville, I respect and appreciate all that our local police force does.If you are under the impression that it's a "Speed Trap",how about obeying the posted speed limits. If you need to speed , why not leave 10 minutes earlier?
It just sounds like COMMON SENSE to me. Oh , but commen sense isn't common.
Keep up the great work Maysville Police, we the residents appreciate , need , honor and respect you. Thanks for all you do. BRITT

Maysville is about as dead as Homer. Homer is not as corrupt as Maysville however. Oh, that's right, Maysville has a barney cop who must ask permission to pull his bullet from his pocket.

Everyone knows Jackson County has the most corrupt county law enforcement with Jefferson, Houshton, Braselton, and Pendegrass running a close tie for second. Maysville is the runner up, but there is an excuse. Half of Maysville lies in Jackson County - Ok Barney, now go apply for JC sheriff you do quailfy.

I sat in front of the Doctors office Last Wednesday and watched Maysville police sitting in a No Parking Zone Pulling over cars that were not going that fast actually people could walk and go as fast as the cars where driving and watched as 3 different drivers were pulled over each and every one of them where crossing the tracks into Jackson Co. before the blue lights where pulled on them I thought it was Hilorious because the only one I thought was breaking the law was the law official sitting in a No parking zone blocking view of a drive and almost causing an accident.

We were scouting land/homes in Maysville this past Saturday. Despite the horridly painted houses on Main Street it seemed like a nice area. After reading all the "topix" here though, think we will reconsider ever moving to Maysville. Where there is smoke there is usually fire and I do not doubt the stories told here, esp regarding the crooked politicians and law enforcement .. middle GA is bad enough!

You know not one person on here has posted a complaint about a real speed trap. Where the speed limit is changed abruptly, with officers hiding behind billboards, and extreme fines to collect extra money.
No, All I hear is people whining that the police are doing their job and doing it well.
Ohhhh yeah.........by the way, call Jackson County, the only county in the state whose department, in recent years, to have their investigative powers assumed by the GBI because of corrupt practices and cover ups. How many officers in Jackson County have resigned, been prosecuted, or convicted in the last year. How many are currently under investigation for more crimes than I can count.
Yeah Jackson County Sheriff's Office is who I think of when I need police help. More like when I need an example of what not to do

Dubby - your memory is quite bad. HALF of Maysville lies within JACKSON COUNTY!! Where else do you think the Maysville police learn their ways?

Lord help us, we have morons along side of idiots claiming to be law enforcement!!

Do these law enforcement organizations not do some type of testing? Maybe this is the reason they are so corrupt, they don't actually read the lawbooks on file!!!!!

By the way Dub, I don't actually pump gas at shell, however I do support a global mainframe software system for a fortune 500 corporation. So my opinion of the law, is quite valid, in the fact that I do have some use of my brain cells.

Ohh yeah, I think him leaving the scene was horrible and the death of those four people was tragic. However until the report and reconstruction is complete I will defer judgement. I do think the mans story has merit however there are a lot of holes that have to be filled in.

Since you have use of some of your brain cells you should know that opinions are just that, opinions. Right or wrong everyone has one. But really is any opinion wrong. Opinions are just how we feel about a subject. So as you have proven, since you only use a few of those brain cells, your opinion may just be a little off.

Dubby!!!

You have hit the nail with the hammer!!!

I have said for years, opinions are like a$$ holes, everybody has one and every body's is different and everyone of them is good for one thing, go spew crap.

Finally we see eye to eye except for the opinion that cops are corrupt in Jackson county Georgia. One doesn't have to have that opinion, the newspapers prove this fact.

Have a good day in your dead little hamlet of Maysville.

Comparing Ex-military police with real police is like calling boy scouts, marines.

After a tad bit of research, I confirmed my suspicion. Lane is completly wrong......
The city of Maysville could not have put any signs out for construction since the city has no road repair crews. The construction that took place was planned in 2003 by the GA DOT. The city had no input in the repairs and therfore can not be called corrupt for placing the signs to make money. And the police certainly had no input in the sign placement. After 6 years in the military, you confirmed my previous opinion of military police.
