How dare you bring up ethnicity. Every person of irish heritage is not a drunk. I realize that there are only 3 groups on TV that the irish fall into: drunk, priest, or cop, but we are more than that. How dare you imply that NeilFlynn must be an "experienced drinker" just because of his last name. Is everybody of italian descent a criminal part of organized crime?? I am irish and very offended by your comment and its insinuation.... I hope someday you grow up and stop believing everything the media says about ALL the irish being drunksNeil Flynn should learn forgiveness, you are telling me that he never drove drunk! An irish guy who has to take a limo home from a wedding is an experienced drinker. It was an accident. He in not a murderer.

Look, just become he may have attempted to mess up a DNA test doesn't mean he doesn't feel guilty for what happened. He, like almost any other person in that situation, was terrified and did not want to end up in jail. He wanted to use whatever he could to not be in jail. I would have the same thing, as would have almost anyone else. IF you did something you knew was wrong and agaisnt the law, would you go up to the courthouse and say put me in jail, I'm guilty and want forgivness? No, you'd try to get out of it without having to go to jail.
Get real and stop judging a stupid 24 year old as a monster, he's a drunk driver pure and simple.

That's really a bigoted, chauvinistic comment.
Let's leave the Flynns alone. This article wasn't about them.
Congratulations to the Rabinowitz family.

No I am not his mother... I'm another 25 year old who did not know Marty, but does know the law and how politics affects the judicial process.
I never insinuated Neil was responsible for Katie's death, that was another poster who stated Katie was not wearing a seat belt. I would question why parents would have their 7 year old out until 2am at a wedding, however that is their right and even if they choose to, they shouldn't have to worry about a drunk driver on the road.
Marty did not plead guilty because he didn't want to make that plea to murder 2, a charge which he thought he would beat (since it wasn't fair). He also didn't want to go to jail. Name me one person who, after commiting a crime, asks to go to jail. If he apologized beforehand, that would be considered a sign of admission of guilt.
Marty allegedly tried to falsify the DNA test because he was faced with 25 years to life in prison. As another 20-something, if I'm faced with all that jail time, essentially ending my life, I'd probably do the exact same thing. As guilty as I'd feel and I'm sure Marty feels, I wouldn't want to go to jail.
You can call Marty a murder and a monster all you want, however if someone in your family happens to make the mistake of driving drunk and killing people, I hope you will then call for them to be put into jail for the rest of their lives and call them murderers and monsters.

Read the Transcript. Martin did NOT ALTER HIS DNA!.
This is that the DA wanted you to believe.
A Blood sample was taken, not a saliva sample.

My nephew and sister-in-law are doing very well. Thank you for all the good wishes. It is truly a happy time, and I thank God that Martin is behind bars and will not be driving drunk into any other people for at least 18 years.
I understand that the case and its details will be discussed, and many people will have the facts of the case just wrong. What some may be forgetting is that the Flynns and the Tangneys continue to suffer in addition to the loss of their child. They were all in the back of the limo during the 120MPH collision. They all feel the physical pain of the crash everyday. Forgive and forget doesn't work very well when you can't pick your other children up because of a BROKEN and PINNED SPINE among other debilitating injuries! Don't forget that they felt and witnessed the crash from the crash.

Hey Gutless, let's try this again. He tampered with his own DNA-that's evidence! When drunk, stoned; etc,. the subconscious unmasked truth comes out. In Marty's case, he had nothing to lose and spoke volumes at his confession. Three, most people DON'T wear seatbelts in a limo because of dress attire and a more roomy carefree atmosphere. Children are no exception. Being hit by an oncoming vehicle on a southbound lane is hardly normal. Four, I had predicted to my comrades that Heidgen would only get 20 to life because we know how watered down sentences get when push comes to shove. Five, I don't judge how Mr Flynn disciplines his children. If this tragedy is a wakeup call for him in some spiritual way, then great. I hope he applies himself as a responsible dad as all men should. Lastly-yes, I am a Sensible One. Been around for years and I don't change my values because of politics or populist thinking like Pelosi liberals and elitists.

Are you kidding me or don't you even remember what you said. You said "An irish guy who takes a limo must be an experienced drinker." If you were not trying to denegrate the irish you would have said "Anyone who takes a limo must be an experienced drinker". Your bigotry came through loud and clear through your choice of words.

No one should pay any mind to NeilFlynnisGutless, he's probably friends with "Marty's" family. The man is a killer. How drunk and negligent do you have to be to drive that far while going the wrong way? He deserves to rot in jail. He murdered two innocent people.
Congratultions on Little Stan, he's beautiful!

Dear IDIOT (and there is only one on this thread):
It appears drunk driving is not a crime in your book, probably because you are a habitual drunk too and a product of in-breeding. Your ugly face should be placed on a poster because it would certainly send women scrambling for birth control.
I hope that someone you love is killed in the near future by a drunk driver so we can see how you handle the rage and bitterness. Yes, the Flynns are suffering terribly and they will probably need professional help in order to move on with their lives. No one who has lived through such a horrendous ordeal is left without scars. We are human. Except for you.
Too bad someone did not suggest a coat hanger when your mother was pregnant. You are a waste of sperm.

Wow, I couldn't have said it better. There is no excuse for driving impaired. If you have a friend or a famaily member or a few dollars to get a cab then you have a safe way home. I wish this country would wake up and see this for the epidemic it is.

I want to suggest a book called Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping. It is not about typical forgiveness as you may assume. If I had the address of the Flynns I would send them a copy.
Neil, if you happen to read this you may contact me through my son's memorial website:
When my only child passed over 4 years ago Radical Forgiveness is what literally saved my life.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
However, it's easy to tell people to forgive. Sometimes it's just not possible. I, for instance, will never forgive my mother for the way she has treated my daughter, my brother and myself over more years than I care to count. Her social life and friends came before her own children, whom she referred to as "lousy, rotten kids". My brother and I laugh about it, but we both agree that it's no way to talk to your children.
I do not know the circumstances regarding your little boy's death. If you can forgive, then good for you. I wish you only the best for the future.

He is a self serving waste of life. Because he is 24 it was a mistake read the transcripts. He was offered a place to stay or a ride he declined. The officers had the impression he was suicidal and the other drivers said that he "tracked their headlights as they tried to get away.
To those that blame the father as far as I am aware the child was decapitated by her seat belt.
