Why can't the paper print which gangs were involved that way the people know who to look out for? My guess it that it was between the scraps and busters.

Only 19 years and the guy in Oroville got 20 for bringing a gun without hurting anyone? This just isn't equal punishment.

Mike Ramsey. GET OUT

wow 19 years for shooting someone in the leg but the guy that stabbed two of my friends in the chest putting one in a coma gets 6 years, thats stupid

Maybe it depends on which judge is presiding.

Lets see, 19 years for one. Come on in friend!
45,000 x 19 = 855,000 plus unknown medical The then inflation. Should be well over a million anyway. Take that punishment you taxpayers. Thank you for the business. Lawyers Judges, Social workers Jailers Doctors nurses Phycs Government worker's unions and the many other related entities. Remember, support gun control. Do not support the death sentance. Thank you very much, your government at work. |

In the old days, they would hang a man for stealing a horse (nop if's, and's or but's). Guess what? Nobody stole horses. |

While some are upset about the 19 years this punk got they forget that there is a "gang enhancement" penalty for this crime. I am all for having harsher penalties for gang members.
Of course I wish they would bring back the chain gangs. Our society seems to be all about coddling the prisoners and not punishing them for their crimes. It is time to bring back the days of making people pay a penalty and being held responsible for their actions. It we make jails and prisons a place to be feared then maybe some of these criminals will think twice before committing a crime. |

Here is an easy solution, protect our borders. Then send the county of orgin the bill for having to feed their citizens. The problem is too many people make big money off the status quo. This is how they want things. this is the government tyranny our founding fathers warned us about. Instead of understanding our obligations, we have ignored them. It is the future generations that are really going to pay with their liberties for our apathy. |

A kid that did not shoot anyone at Las Plumas high school got 22 years. Wow.

I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS YOUNG MAN DESERVES 19 YEARS WE HAVE CRIMES THAT ARE COMITED THAT ARE FAR MORE SERIOUS MY FRIEND WAS MURDERD BY HER BOYFRIENDS EX AND HER KILLER WAS GIVEN 15 YEARS HOW IS THIS FAIR.
So send the county or did u mean country please be specific but these gang members are born right here in butte county. so check ur facts buddy before u make ignorant comments. |
So, Jane Doe, are you for or against gang members? Your trivial suggestions are confusing. However you put it, it sounds as if you are on the side of the gang members because they were born in Butte County. I don't think I would brag about that. |
Not bragging dont get me wrong but we need to find a solution in our own community to stop raising our kids to become gang members. We need to stop blaming borders and look more at our communities. |
OK, now I understand what you were trying to say. And you are correct in parts of it. However, it is a known fact that the drugs and their cartels originate in Mexico. I know that for a fact as I have an in-law (now an out-law) who was arrested for carrying drugs up from SoCal as they came across the border to Butte and Glenn counties. May he rot in jail! All so he could buy his gold jewelry to wear on Saturday and Sunday and drive a new car. No regard for those he was helping to kill. |
Im not defending the illegals. I'm defending the ones that were born right here. we alienate them because of cultural differences instead of educating them. This kid who's going to prison for 19 years is only 18 years old it just doesn't seem fair. he didn't kill anyone he did commit a crime and deserves a fair punishment. |
Good Golly Miss Molly. I must have read the newspaper article wrong. I thought it said he SHOT someone with a GUN. That doesn't mean a slingshot, a bow and arrow, a BB Gun. It was a REAL gun and there were REAL bullets. If he had hit a baby, a child, or anyone else besides the intended target, he would have been given the same sentence. And he deserves it!!!!! Everyone in this country is GIVEN the opportunity to go to school and learn. If he or she doesn't want to, they will fail. They have to have the 'want to' to succeed. If that isn't present, they go out and get a gun and shoot someone. |
but because hes mexican he deserves it right? If he was white and comited the same crime he would have got less time is that fair? |

How are we "alienating them? The schools and counties are going broke from the cost feeding and educating Spanish-speaking people, yet their own choice of language and culture is still the one they came from. Many radio and TV stations have been bought by Hispanics. They always are converted to Spanish-only programming. How are they trying to assimilate? Why do we have to spend billions to accomplish this when this is not what they want? Instead, we teach Spanish speaking, and others to learn English. Then these kids become adults and receive preference over English-only speaking kids. Is this fair? Wake up! We are alienating ourselves! |
Who said he was Mexican (capital M by the way, Jane). The article doesn't mention that, just you. His first name is Ivan, is that a Hispanic name? And being as you are not in the court system, at least in the prosecuting side, you cannot say that a 'white' person would not get the same time. If in fact you are Hispanic, or Mexican as you call it, and also apparently don't like whites, perhaps you sign your name as "Juana"? |
