My son is in basic training and was found in possesion of a phone.
Can the captain give an article 15 AND take pay AND holiday christmas pass??? Seems a bit much for a little recruit.
Damn! He wasnt smoking or drinking or cussing or being rude or anyting else.
Who is agood person to speak to?

The Army is different than civilian life. All the rules are very plain and very clear.
Though this incident sounds minor and I am sure no harm came from it, you son still broke the rules and thought to do what he wanted, not what the Army wants.
The reason he is being punished is if he decides to think for himself and choose what rules or orders to obey or not to obey in Afghanistan, then people can die, including himself.
Yes, his CO can give Article 15 punishment, at least he has no rank to lose yet.
Finally, your son is a man now, time to quit solving his problems for him and let him solve his own.

Ay least he didn't order a pizza, that's one major snafu that I've seen go down many times to both good and disasterous result, during my many years of deliveries to Sand Hill.
