I'm not a fan of their music or them as people.

That's my professional opinion.

You forgot to add... "In my opinion" to that statement.

Let the readers decide for themselves...

Proud to say I've collaborated with the best of the local music scene, and at the top of the list, as anyone who cares to listen knows, is Henry Conley & his Conley Brothers Band. Great music by The Conley Brothers, backing me on one of me poems set to music.

Twilight Girl, written by Will Dockery & Henry Conley, one of what I consider one of my more successful poems, perfectly framed in musical arrangement by what many say are some of the best in the Columbus-Phenix City music scene... The Conley Brothers.

Twilight Girl

Six or six thousand,
we will meet again.
At blazing dusk,
or quiet dawn.
On that shore... again.
This is the wait,
the weight of the world.
Comes down sweet and heavy...
Twilight Girl.

On that quiet morning,
clear, crispy light.
Seeing a movie from a distance,
mourning in front of her flight.
This is the wait,
the weight of the world.
Comes down sweet and heavy,
Twilight Girl.

She offered me her cup,
asked me to fill it up,
I said "Later, babe.
Right now we have to talk
untangle the chakra
that crosses over."

Ghost horses,
from the car ahead,
looks like engine exhaust.
Blink my eyes through bitter tears,
a smile for what we've lost.
This is the wait,
the weight of the world.
Comes down sweet and heavy...
Twilight Girl.

Posting from my phone now so not logged in. At a late lunch and feel a bit bad for making comments on the band's character. I'm not a fan of their music and have had issues with members of the collective, and that comment was directed towards specific people and not everyone involved. Henry Conley, I will say, has always been as nice as can be to my face. Bless his heart.

Thanks for adding that, Josh.

And I have to add that Henry Conley is one of the finest musicians and songwriters this area has produced.

Folks don't have to take my word for that, have a listen and decide for yourselves:

And of course, you can always catch The Conley Brothers holding court at The Del Ranch every Thursday night open mic, hosting the best in the local talent from the Columbus-Phenix City muisc scene. I might make it myself, if the tires hold out...

Yes, I was pretty sure it was you, since it isn't really common knowledge the history you have with The Conley Brothers from back in the Del Ranch days.

And in Conley Brothers news, they are scheduled to perform as usual at this year's Hogbottom, one of the bands who have been at each festival all the way back to the first one, in 2005:

Hogbottom 2013 schedule / Fort Mitchell, AL / April 27th

http://picyou.com/PUdlKC

Here's an update on that event, on the weekend of April 27th, from Hogbottom founder Dave Patillo:

"The action wear has been ordered, the line-up has been cast, and the new grill is in the works. It's time to clean out your coolers, break out the lawn chairs, dust off your instruments, and fluff up your sleeping bags. Believe it or not the 8th Annual Hog Bottom is just five short weeks away! The schedule for the day is below and attached and now includes 21 bands! This year we will be starting a bit earlier (10:45 am) and going until 10:00 in the evening. I have also attached a revised flyer. I for one can't wait and I look forward to seeing you there..."

A few other favorites in the local scene I'd list would include more of the dozens of talented singers and songwriters of the Columbus & Phenix City music scene who are constantly creating and performing original songs.

Here are some individual examples of local singer-songwriters who, in my opinion, are creating some quality work, and put on a great performance, and in my opinion are very legitimate musicians:

Riley Yielding:

Bibb City Ramblers:
http://www.youtube.com/user/RusticViewer07/vi...

Fiddlers Blues Band:

The above performers in the Columbus-Phenix City music scene are great examples of why this poll is bogus... there's a wealth of talent in the Chattahoochee Valley.

Funny thing is reading back through all the posts here, the maroon is the only one who seems to like the hogwash music of the Conleys, maybe because his music is hogwash, ya think????

You seem to be spreading hogwash while everyone else calls it like they see it, you are a true maroon.
