We were in Columbus last night and being an avid topix lover I checked the board and found this tidbit of information.
After dinner we all decided to go to the coffee shop and see what all the hype was about.
The coffee shop was nice (loved the wall art) and our barista was great if not a bit frazzled.
The coffee was very good and the place was clean.

Ok, now for the bad. The obviously overhyped "Conley Bros" were not bad per se but maybe as rank amateurs. My 13 year old cousin is at this same level of musicianship. I was really surprised to see people such as this playing at such a focal point in Columbus and the choice of music, really??
Nothing cutting edge here and all hype.
Just a kindly warning to anyone else following the hype.

All I can say is your 13 year old cousin must be on amazing prodigy musician if he's on the level of the classic folk rock stylings of The Conley Brothers!

My point there being Mr Dockery is that this event was hyped up like it was going to be something yet is was below even your run of the mill average Joe Schmo playing covers in your neighborhood bar.
You like this and that is fine but just wanted to maybe warn other who come to your city and think they are going to be entertained.

I guess since these people are your friends I very much doubt YOUR honesty in being objective in this whole matter.
I went to hear them with no preconceived ideas of what it would be like, except with what I read here.
I will say again in all honesty, except for the coffee, the much Topix hyped entertainment on here was a MAJOR disappointment.
Just a warning to others visiting Columbus who might check Topix as I did, it's all a bunch of hype or as others here say " much ballyhooed" LoL

Funny about the Ricky Nelson song because I did not see anyone pleased with the sound they were hearing in that coffee shop.

Not at all, the Columbus-Phenix City music scene is abundantly documented on videos filmed by East Alabama Cable-TV, and also available on their YouTube channel.

Well, I wasn't there last night, but I find it difficult to believe that The Conley Brothers could possibly be as bad as you claim.

What sort of music do you usually enjoy?

Perhaps you just don't like that country-folk sound that The Conley Brothers excell as craftsmen in?
