All guns should be banned. People who turn in fire arms should be given a thousand dollars income tax credit. Also to solve racial equality problems White couples who adopt Haitian children should be given huge tax credits. Diversity in action must be practiced to fulfill total Lenny Kravitz style racial blending. We are ONE NATION! Let's fulfill Dr. King's dream of just CHARACTER and not race. A classless raceless society brings TOTAL EQUALITY! Then we all shall be POLITICALLY PURE from the taints of evil class based society structure. Pure communism in practice is the answer! Communist society is America's answer!
No, owning guns is a fundamental right in this Country. Adoption is a noble thing and I don't think tax breaks motivate people to do so.
Society's racial make up will be what it is but communism is never ever the answer.

I don't want either democrat nor republican administrations to limit guns. This is a direct way for one party rule. Don't forget for one moment that George Bush would like to have stayed on as King of America.

Hypocrisy from the Hollywood elites
Those Hollywood-LA types were always in another universe from us even us Deep South Hipsters as some knew us as. Yes, "Those were different times..."

The title of this thread keeps reminding me of an old David Blue song, almost lost in obscurity... and so went out online to have a look for it, finding pretty much naught.

About all there seems to be are the blank pages, waiting to be filled in eventually, such as:

https://artist.maestro.fm/David_Blue_-_Hollyw...

As I posted there:

"...Looks like the lyrics to "Hollywood Babies" by David Blue are not online as of yet... the chorus I was trying to remember and veriy for a quote, something like:

"Those Hollywood Babies, complicated ladies, the boys in the gay bars all around town. They all look at you so wise and so cool, they set you up while they're bringing you down..."

Over 20 years since hearing and my memory has faded a bit, and the melody carried this one a bit. In it's way it was a capsule snapshot/short story of LA in 1977."

That was 1977. You need to listen to the words of PAC and BIGGIE. Music today is not that stuff you listen to. Listen to Ricky Smiley. NWA PROFESSOR GRIFF. They speak for now.
Actually, Griff was in... 1989?

Post a poem that we can hum.
Old school poetry works well for that:

Kubla Khan

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure dome decree.

And from this chasm, with ceaseless turmoil seething,
As if this earth in fast thick pants were breathing,
A mighty fountain momently was forced:
Amid whose swift half-intermitted burst
Huge fragments vaulted like rebounding hail,
Or chaffy grain beneath the thresher's flail:
And 'mid these dancing rocks at once and ever
It flung up momently the sacred river.

[...]

Five miles meandering with a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran,
Then reached the caverns measureless to man,
And sank in tumult to a lifeless ocean:
And 'mid this tumult Kubla heard from far
Ancestral voices prophesying war!

[...]

The shadow of the dome of pleasure
Floated midway on the waves;
Where was heard the mingled measure
From the fountain and the caves.
It was a miracle of rare device,
A sunny pleasure-dome with caves of ice!

[...]

Could I revive within me
Her symphony and song,
To such a deep delight 'twould win me
That with music loud and long
I would build that dome in air,
That sunny dome! those caves of ice!
And all who heard should see them there,
And all should cry, Beware! Beware!
His flashing eyes, his floating hair!
Weave a circle round him thrice,
And close your eyes with holy dread,
For he on honey-dew hath fed
And drunk the milk of Paradise.

Linwood Bedlam wrote:
British poetry is so abstentious and inimical
A great American poet:
Fate by Ralph Waldo Emerson
That you are fair or wise is vain,
Or strong, or rich, or generous;
You must have also the untaught strain
That sheds beauty on the rose.
There is a melody born of melody,
Which melts the world into a sea.
Toil could never compass it,
Art its height could never hit,
It came never out of wit,
But a music music-born
Well may Jove and Juno scorn.
Thy beauty, if it lack the fire
Which drives me mad with sweet desire,
What boots it? what the soldier's mail,
Unless he conquer and prevail?
What all the goods thy pride which lift,
If thou pine for another's gift?
Alas! that one is born in blight,
Victim of perpetual slight;
When thou lookest in his face,
Thy heart saith, Brother! go thy ways!
None shall ask thee what thou doest,
Or care a rush for what thou knowest,
Or listen when thou repliest,
Or remember where thou liest,
Or how thy supper is sodden,
And another is born
To make the sun forgotten.
Surely he carries a talisman
Under his tongue;
Broad are his shoulders, and strong,
And his eye is scornful,
Threatening, and young.
I hold it of little matter,
Whether your jewel be of pure water,
A rose diamond or a white,
But whether it dazzle me with light.
I care not how you are drest,
In the coarsest, or in the best,
Nor whether your name is base or brave,
Nor tor the fashion of your behavior,
But whether you charm me,
Bid my bread feed, and my fire warm me,
And dress up nature in your favor.
One thing is forever good,
That one thing is success,
Dear to the Eumenides,
And to all the heavenly brood.
Who bides at home, nor looks abroad,
Carries the eagles, and masters the sword.
Wow, pretty heavy stuff for this simplistic forum, LB!

Thanks for a good read.

Twilight Girl

Six or six thousand,
we will meet again.
At blazing dusk,
or quiet dawn.
On that shore... again.

This is the wait,
the weight of the world.
Comes down sweet and heavy...
Twilight Girl.

On that quiet morning,
clear, crispy light.
Seeing a movie from a distance,
mourning in front of her flight.

This is the wait,
the weight of the world.
Comes down sweet and heavy,
Twilight Girl.

She offered me her cup,
asked me to fill it up,
I said "Later, babe.
Right now we have to talk
untangle the chakra
that crosses over."

Ghost horses,
from the car ahead,
looks like engine exhaust.
Blink my eyes through bitter tears,
a smile for what we've lost.

This is the wait,
the weight of the world.
Comes down sweet and heavy...
Twilight Girl.

on it there was a girl waiting to get off. A white dress she had on. She was
carrying a white parasol. I only saw her for one second. She didn't see me
