I went to Brennen Road BBQ and it was really great, I actually had never even been on Brennen Road before in my life.

I think Smoky Bones has the best quality of meat.

Almost impossible to pick a "best" BBQ in Columbus GA-Phenix City AL... the variety is almost endless as is the good quality.

Hmmmm, thought I already posted on this poll.
I like 13th street the best, haven't eaten at many of the others listed but would like to try them all.

I love the 13th Street's Mustard based sauce, also, and a completely different taste, Clearview BBQ.

I was pretty much raised on Macon Road and Brennan Road BBQ, being an Eastsider on and off most of my life, and love theirs as well.

Smokey Pig, although I haven't had any in years, was always a favorite, and was the favorite of several old friends of mine, now passed. I might stop there today for a sampling. Fat Freddie's on over off Hamilton Road used to put out some great BBQ, but again it has been a number of years since I stopped there.

Chester's is good for that heavy "Soul food" style BBQ, and is dynamite when I'm in the mood food that bold flavor.

It goes on and on... and to misquote W.C. Fields, "I mever met a BBQ I didn't like."

BBQ is great and each region of the USA has its own styles and tastes usually because they are Mom & Pop establishments. Great poll!

How is it possible that Chester's could get 30 votes?
That has got to be the worst place in Columbus to get BBQ. Country's is even better, heck the frozen BBQ from the grocery stores is better than that garbage at Chester's.
The meat is terrible, I guess there is a REASON why you don't see too MANY stray animals around the place.
Chester the BBQ Molester.

I was there about a year ago working and ate at the Country's across from where Columbus Square mall used to be and must say that it was pretty damn good que! Can't wait to go back down there and try chicken comer's.That was always my favorite growing up along with Macon road.Let's face it ,Columbus has some GREAT b-b-que places!
You probably remember the great country and bluegrass music nights there as well, Reef, the George family, Rick, Henry, and even little Sandy Madaris at age six or seven standing on a table singing "Silver Threads And Golden Needles"!

I ate there once (Chesters) with some people from work and we all got sick.
I am talking about the one on Veterans down by the Civic center right next to the projects.
A Co-Worker still calls it ghetto Barbeque, LOL
I like Clearview myself and when we Come to Columbus down River Road its the closest too, two pluses from me.

I think Mike & Ed's just recently went out of business.
It's a shame to see a long time business like this go under because of Obamanomics.

Hmmmm, interesting choices. I agree Chesters and don't understand why Smokey Bones is rated so high.
I'd vote 13th Street or Clearview

I'm not sure about all Mike & Ed's locations, but last night while in Auburn I noticed the College Street location there was still busy, and on the way home, the location in Smith's Station also seems to still be operating.

Chester's is really just a touch too much "sweet" sauce for me, I gravitate more to the smoked, and mustard based sauces, which 13th Street are the masters of, and Clearview with it's focus on the smoked meat, with a nice space of hot bbq sauce.

Country's I prefer for their roast beef and gravy rather than bbq.

You are probably right Will, I was talking about the location on Warm Springs Road closing. That is the one I used to go to. I think they have a location on Manchester Expressway also but I do not know if it is still open.

Looks like the Mike & Ed's BBQ on Veteran's Parkway has closed, also.

The one on Crawford Road, which is I think the original location, is still going strong also.
