Columbus ain't never had a *music scene* Macon Georgia had one back in the late 60's and early 70's but it disappeared. Still a few happening happenings in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. Even the music scene in Auburn Alabama does not compare with what is going on in Athens Georgia, both college towns of course.
More input to come from me on this topic.

I read a book about the Allman Brothers Band and their time in Macon, pretty interesting. The state of Georgia has a "music scene" and a great musical history. No one would go to Columbus for the music and I hate to be ultra critical but the vids posted here probably don't help the cause.

Hey Slat wrote: Hey Slat. His opinion doesn't count. He doesn't count. He got shipped off to Carver so he wouldn't ruin the Columbus High or Hardaway kids. He ruins topix every day posting links to nasty songs like Truck Stop Woman. The lyrics detailing super nasty mess him and his BUDDY create in their mildewed minds. I kept reading the title of that song posted by him every day. Then I finally decided to read the song lyrics. He is a SICK. An absolute SICK. Just read the song lyrics. He is a SICK. Heh... yeah, you just keep repeating to yourself over and over: "He doesn't count... he doesn't count..." All the while stamping your little feet and turning red in the face... you're both amusing and pathetic, my anonymous little friend. Now, about "Truck Stop Woman", which you've posted about 300 times today, all the while trying to claim I "don't count": Calm your hysteria. "Truck Stop Woman" is simply a retro country & western song in the old school style of Buck Owens, Johnny Cash and their ilk. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

Well, there's a lot of truth in what you're saying, of course, but the fact remains there are a lot of talented creative artists with little or no outlet, because, basically, Columbus isn't known for being very creative or "cutting edge". This is why internationally recognized icons of music and literature such as Ma Rainey and Carson McCullers, both from Columbus Georgia, are to this day pretty much unknowns in their native town. But hey, adversity brreds innovation. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

Hank is right wrote: Hank is right. And, I'll say it too. Parents, IN MY OPINION do not want these clubs open allowing a sixty year old man to pander to the youth who are impressionable with leftist politico think mess. Also the bacteria and germs eminating from these people in the clubs can spoil a package of baloney. They have zero talent. They are very dysgenic-ugly people. Many actually have RETARDED SIBLINGS. Proof they are from defective families. The worst part is the smell of these people. The Water Works should be told of the run off if and when these people bathe. Are they and their kin the source of flesh eating bacteria. Is it melungeon in origin. Only the Whitleys of the world can tell whether the items around their house were five finger discounts, or lifted from job sites. The teeth are the true sign of Gefiltte fish. Descendents of cab drivers the world over are defininately trash. So stay away from these clubs. These people, SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. Are you from Russia or something? Nightclubs are only open to adults 21 years of age or older... many of whom are "parents" themselves. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

Mostly true, but The Loft (and later, SoHo Bar) made great strides in trying to build a music scene in Columbus-Phenix City. And there's still no denying there's a great wealth of undiscovered talent in this area, some of which, or maybe most of which you may be unaware of. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

Rusty wrote: With over 600 videos and countless hours, I seriously doubt that anyone here took too much time to check it out. If you did, you would find much talent. For all the whining and denial of the fact that the Columbus-Phenix City area is heavily populated with talented creators of original music and poetry, the statement by Rusty Wood stands true above all the bull. And it isn't an /opinion/, since there are over 600 videos and countless hours of original songwriting to *prove* the fact... the fact that the Columbus-Phenix City music scene is not only "legitimate", but thriving. Case closed. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

Truck Stop Violence wrote: The song Truck Stop Woman teaches listeners that a woman is a sex recepticle a piece of prostitution meat to be used and abused. It is a sick song written by perverted minds. It is NOT okay to sexually abuse women. Calm your hysteria. You obviously know little or nothing about the Country music genre. The "Truck Stop Woman" song is an old school homage to classic country ongs and singers such as Buck Owens and Johnny Cash. Your hype is misrepresenting what is simply an old fashioned Country-Western song about a trucker and his wayward girl. In fact, the girl I wrote the song about is doing well right ow and loves the song, of course. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

An example of the varied strength of the talent in the Columbus-Phenix City music scene, here's our own Folk Hero Rick Edwards, who did a show at Del Ranch last Sunday night, which was broadcast live over the internet, and now is archived here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/24027524#utm_c... Classic folk and country originals, a local icon, and always ignored by local radio and mainstream media.

These video's are not very good at all and I'm being polite by saying that much. I am a guitarist in a band and we play in Atlanta and Nashville, yeah...figure it out yourself. Man y'all need to get some lessons... because you better check yourself before you wreck yourself. Peace

Peace Well, thanks for having a listen and giving your opinion, but even you should know that an anonymous opinion such as yours, claiming how "great" you are yet providing no links to your music or giving any clue as to where to listen to and judge your music has zero credibilty here. Come back again when you have the guts to actually post some evidence of what a "great" guitarist you are... rather than just pretending that this is true and expecting anyone here to believe you. Just saying. -- Truck Stop Woman / Will Dockery & Henry Conley: http://youtu.be/Hv6u6GNe6Kk

You are a "wannabe" I see people like you all the time, the only difference is most of them have some talent. You are the worst I have ever heard. Ever. Just sayin
