Artwork based on "V For Vendetta", the graphic nobel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.

Its cartoonic picture of Guy Fawkes. This has nothing to do with V's or vendettas.
I don't think you have any idea what the meaning is of what was posted.

No, you're wrong.

The art for the "Anonymous" Movement was originally drawn by the artist David Lloyd for his graphic novel "V For Vendetta" over 20 years ago. Which I read back then and instantly recorgnized the line-for-line copy of his style.

Don't take my word for it, though, look it up for yourself... which you obviously have not done and still remain so ignorant of the facts on this. Glad to clear up your ignorance and confusion, Jack, now go have a nice day.

Dockery needs to do a bit more research before he clears up any ignorance and confusion.

The Gunpowder Plot in 1605 was commemorated from early on with effigies of unpopular figures. Towards the end of the 18th century, reports appeared of children begging for money with masked effigies of Guy Fawkes, and 5 November gradually became known as Guy Fawkes Night.

The main character in the comic book series V for Vendetta, which started in 1982, and its 2006 film adaptation, wore a Guy Fawkes mask. The series, written by Alan Moore and illustrated mostly by David Lloyd is about a dystopian future United Kingdom. When developing the idea, Lloyd wrote a handwritten note: "Why don’t we portray him as a resurrected Guy Fawkes, complete with one of those papier-mâché masks, in a cape and a conical hat? He’d look really bizarre and it would give Guy Fawkes the image he’s deserved all these years. We shouldn’t burn the chap every Nov. 5th but celebrate his attempt to blow up Parliament!" Moore commented that, due to Lloyd's idea, "All of the various fragments in my head suddenly fell into place, united behind the single image of a Guy Fawkes mask."[2]

Since the release in 2006 of the film V for Vendetta, the use of stylised "Guy Fawkes" masks, with moustache and pointed beard, has become widespread internationally among groups protesting against politicians, banks and financial institutions. The masks both conceal the identity of individuals and demonstrate their commitment to a shared cause.[3][4]

Heh... I'd be willing to wager I know all about that, certainly Guy Fawkes, tears before you ever even heard the name, "Hank".

Such as... where were you and what music were you listening to in 1971?

Yes, this is an on-topic question.

Oooops, a typo.

I meant to type "years" before you ever even heard the name "Guy Fawkes", Hank.

The fact remains that the art for the "Guy Fawkes Mask" is literally taken from the artwork of David Lloyd, from the comix he drew in the late 1980s.

So, Hank... I'd be willing to wager I knew all about that, certainly Guy Fawkes, years before you ever even heard the name, "Hank".

Now, I learned about Guy Fawkes Day as early as 1971, in a very interesting way, but it was never that obscure except maybe to a dullard such as you, Hank.

Every British schoolchild knows of that holiday, actually.

My point is that the actual /art/ by David Lloyd was appropriated by the Anonymous folks, art that he drew for the V For Vendetta graphic novel.

Thanks for helping make this a very interesting thread, though... and there's plenty left to discuss in this subject.

But, as your research should reveal to you:

I certainly doubt it by what you wrote up there earlier Q-Tip and what you really should say is that you THINK you know all about that subject, however you have already proven that NOT to be the case.

What did I listen to way back then?
I usually just listened to whatever I could find on the Am Q-Tip. I wasn't part of a scene or anything and I'm no music aficionado like yourself.

So what part of what I wrote earlier do you not agree with, "Hank"?

Everything I wrote can be proven by "research":

But while I don't know "all" about Guy Fawkes Day, maybe, I have been very aware of the holiday since my childhood, and although I'm American and thus never celebrated it, the November holiday is known by every British schoolchild, so is far from being as "obscure" as you must find it to be.

You do realize that while David Lloyd is responsible for the cartoon illustration of the likeness of Guy Fawkes in the graphic novel "V', he was not actually the writer of that work.
That honor belongs to Alan Moore.

Do you enjoy being punked on the net?
Why do you make three posts to say what you could easily say in one?
Once you borrow something from history to create something else, you can never really own it or its style any more.
