I have to wonder why my previous post is being judged "Racy" "Touching" and even more crazy "Off Topic"
Crazy stuff going on on this board.

I have never eaten at many of these places but think I might try them for lunch. Peluso's and Deorio's have been around a long time yet I have never been to either.

No, I don't know "everything" but I do know what I know.

Don't you?

Actually, that's the location I remember best for Peluso's Pizza... great times there back in the 1980s.

I went to Peluso's this past week and had the lunch pizza special, my wife had the lasagna . Both were really good and it wasn't bad at all on the wallet either. The pizza was very crispy and thin ( the way I like it) and the seasonings were superb.
Thank you all for directing me here with this poll, we have found us another local favorite.
Next stop, Mellow Mushroom.

First go Jim to JOHNNY'S PIZZA by Lowe's between 3 and 4 PM Mon-Fri. Their mid day special. They have huge dollar or two dollar slices and two buck large draft. You can add extra toppings cheap too. I got drunk and full for under ten bucks. Its a hell of a deal. Plus the waitress brings it all to you oven hot and straight from the tap. I had to let my woman drive because I was lit for two hours after that.
I can and will do that, thank you.

I know this is off topic but I was just wondering if anyone out there remembered the Shakey's pizza that was located on macon road across from where the old Columbus Square Mall was? They wore straw hats and had an old timey piano player. From what I recall the pizza was GREAT.Of course at the age I was,It would have been,No matter what.I'm talking 70's here.
Oh yeah, loved Shakey's Pizza... I've seen there's still a Shakey's in Auburn-Opelika, but haven't checked it out yet!

I haven't eaten one in years (well, I had a calzone last year) but The Cannon Brew Pub had some GREAT wood-fire pizzas. That's got to be my vote with Mellow Mushroom coming in 2nd!

I love Picasso though (great location, outdoor seating.. fun spot) but I've always had a problem with consistency there. Sometimes I'd go and have one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted and the next time it would taste not much better than a frozen pizza. I talked to the new owner, Larry, not too long ago and that was one of his main priorities to address. I have only eaten there once since, so I can't say much about consistency, but it was damn good!

All these top vote getters are fine places.
I remember the best pizza ever in Columbus was a place up on the corner of Manchester Expressway and Armour Road, I believe there is a car lot there now.
The place was called "Pizza Square" and sold square shaped pizza in a diner style facility.
The sauce was the best I ever had and the pizza was great.
I agree with the poll about Peluso's and Piccasso being about the best in town at this time.

Yes, I would take my dates there when I was in high school in the 1980's. I do have great memories of the place and its pizza, glad to hear I am not alone.

I haven't been to many of these palaces listed either but of the ones listed I'd say Mellow Mushroom. I like the whole 1960's psychedelic decor thing and the pizza is really good too.
