Mike,
Thank you. I never liked living here but after being here for nearly two decades I will stand up for and to anyone. Citizens still have a voice.
Didn't Lewisburg City council take citizen input off the city council meeting agenda @ July 2008? Don't bother looking for it in the Council Minutes I believed they erased it!(although I have the original post)

The landfill plan is available at the county courthouse.
But don't worry about the future.I'm sure Waste Management will again offer the County manpower, free services and equipment until the County can figure out what Waste Managment wants to do.
Waste Managment offered free help but only for a period of time until the county could obtain an expansion permit;which would allow them to stay in business here. Buy your laws and poison here!

I'm sorry but that does not make sense at all. Are you saying he did not agree with how he voted but was much more worried about the "after plan" of not having the money Waste Management was bringing in, even after proof was provided the landfill was not stabalized? I don't think people are prepared for the consequences of expanding the landfill either. Didn't Waste Management recently become exposed for the leaks they already have in the landfill? My issue is to say you are opposed to one issue before you are elected and vote the other way when you are elected. In my opinion, I wouldn't be surprised that some council were persuaded to vote for the expansion by Waste Management. Now I am even more worried that an elected official would bring any type of danger to our community for a little profit.

Hold up Violet, you should have checked your grammar skills before posting. If my memory serves me correctly (and it does), you should not have used a comma before the conjunction. The other side of that conjunction is not a complete sentence, therefore, the comma is not needed. Everyone can use a bit of correction every now and then; even me, once in a "Moon River." I learned my grammar from the best English teacher, and she is still teaching. If you are proud of your country and the men and women who put their lives on the line for you daily, thank a vet. If you can read, thank a teacher. In conclusion, I certainly do approve this message brought to you by the hand of a 'ready writer.'Oh yea, the single quotaions are correctly placed.

You know some in Tennessee keeps blaming people for voting for Obama, well come to think about it some people may have voted for Obama, but as the way the seemly crooked system works our vote did not even count for did not the Tennessee Electoral Vote go to the Republican Candidate?
No wonder Tennessee may be on his short list, why in America does not every ones vote count when it comes to electing the President of the United States?

Elect the Election Commission Office Head, with Public Vote not appointment!

I am greatly surprised that the Marshall County election office head is appointed and not elected and that people given past history of Blacks and Women’s Right to vote would allow the door closed on the local press to watch and see how the public votes are counted.
Such a disgrace also would like to ask why local people are allowed to service and maintain the voting machines, when even it is their own son running for office, and that the same machines he possibly services, count the votes.

I do hope in the future in never happens again and the County Commission buys new voting machines, so a paper trail can be used to verify and if necessary recount the votes.

The person who runs the Marshall County Election Commission Office should have to run for office and not be an appointed too office.
With an only 2 year term.

All Public offices should be elected not appointed!

Restore the public confidence back in the election process and be sure to replace those out dated machines as to being able to know if our vote even gets counted, before the next election if not this person will not vote.

I was thinking of moving my family and business to Lewisburg till I ran upon this thread. My business employes about twenty people at the moment, but we plan on adding ten more. I know every town has their problems but this one sounds pretty bad. We may have found a location close to Huntsville. Plan to be up and running by spring. Thanks.

Well, look no further than those that voted for a new rock quarry. But, you are only concerned for something in your backyard.

You should care what happens too the taxpayer because an Obama supporter during election time or not after the election we all are Obama supporters for do we not still pay his salary and benefits and travel?
So it is not Oboma who is the problem, it is the Idiots who are implementing, the policy of the Obama’s administration who are to blame.
It's not the stimulus money that worries me, it is the Idiots who are spending it, as it would seem, some of our own local County Officials take for instance as to not support old private well established business that has paid high county and city taxes for years and employed many over the years and to have local my own elected official, bring in and support new business with our tax money to create competition and put us out of business just plain seems wrong.
Grocery Stores and restraints are private owned business even factories too for how can older business compete with high wages or loss of their trained employees and continue to pay high taxes as their completion gets low interest loans, government support, and property tax and or utilities breaks?
Competition is just that when played on a level playing field with honest officials and the same rules’ but to have crooked or just dumb officials change the rules and help the other side then it no longer competition it is a crooked game.
Is that really fair or equal justice for all, to give others in the same private business a tax breaks or lower interest rates? Is it really fair for the Local government officials being in the selling of Bonds, making loans, setting interest rates, guaranteeing or committing the property taxpayers of the county to being held liable for the loans, might as well say our county officials seem to be in the banking business, or what about helping one end of the county more than the other, what new grocery store or restaurant is in the making with the help of local county officials for Belfast, Chapel Hill, or Petersburg?
What about that over $40 million dollar county Debt we can all thank our wonderful it would seem in the banking and finance business, and private business county officials for?
If I could do it, I would make him take the red eye all of the time and make him and his group eat at McDonalds.

Come on down to Hwy. 99 and inhale all the lime dust. Of course you don't think that is an environmental hazard. Look which commissioners supported it. The same ones that are opposed to the landfill.

I think any dust that people breathe is bad for people health but It is ten times worse when you got to smell all the chemical and garbage odor seeing all the liquid chemical tanker trucks going in and out of this Chemical leaking Dump night and week ends right next to the city limits and drive by look up see on the side of that mountain them opening up that rotten garbage pile and smell that chemical smell.
Use to we could sleep with our window up but not any more wake up some days with a gagging chemical smell of rotten garbage.

There should be a buffer zone as to dust from rock Quarries or dumps that no residents could live for 5 to 10 miles wide of a rock Quarry or Dump.
More industrial zoning should have been in place in Marshall County years ago as to difference farm land and industrial zoning.

I have a hard time with the likes of DL, LM, SW, MAN, and JBL. They were all major supporters of the quarry and are major opponents of the landfill. What does that tell us? It tells me that they are only for their own self-interest. They could care less about anyone else.

Location, Location, Location, they must not live close to the rock Quarry or the dust don't directly effect some of them also
local connections, a push for cheap rock for county roads yet

Here is another it would seem some of the rest are against closing the Dump for same reasons.

But all it would seem all don't push the issue of Conflict of interest of one of their own as to the land sale dump deal in the South End.
