Not a daycare but a cool play place. It looks like a fun time for kids. Unfortunately mine are a little too old for it.:( This is their website that I found.

I peeked in yesterday. It looks kind of small, but might be good for little kids. Beware of the childcare though.....I seriously doubt they have a childcare license and you would be leaving your kids there when they are open so anyone can walk right in. They should not combine open play and childcare....they are just trying to make $$. I will not leave my kids there, but we might try open play.

Last I looked there was nothing inside, but it looked large. I am super excited about the drop-in care! But I will have to see how they work by going there for open play before using the drop-in service. License or not, I make my own mind if a place is safe. A license doesn't necessarily=a child safe place, 4 kids to 1 person seems like a better ratio then many "licensed places" I've used.

I would agree with ColumbiaMaMa. I wouldn't leave my kids somewhere that was open to the public at the same time. They are offering too many things at once to make money. I hope it's better than that Franklin playplace. My kids get so bored there.

Hi guys, I ran across this discussion and wanted to describe myself a bit and what I am trying to do. Myself and my husband are opening Storybook Village because we need more places for children in town. I have a 4 and 6 yr old myself and know the ups and downs of motherhood. I've watched kids for years and pay attention to what they like. I've tried my very best to have activities all for all ages and temperaments. We're putting everything we have into this.
The drop in care came about after so many requests. While I absolutely love playing with kids, I don't want to raise other children (like a traditional childcare). But, we do have so many people in the area that are not from here and do not have close family or are often caught in a pinch for childcare. My vision is for children to come with parents often enough that they get to know us. Then if they have a school appointment/ etc. or are in a bind, the parent and the child know us and the environment and can stay for an hour or two.
I did have the same concerns as you said. But we have one women in charge of up to 4 children and will engage them in a craft or game of some sort, so they are with her at all times. It's really not a "money maker" but more of a service for mom's in a pinch. If we see there is a big demand then we can expand to a different part of the building or have it offered in the evenings after open play is closed.
We are just regular people and not a big cooperation, and hopefully you will stop by and check us out. The grand opening is July 9th and admission is free with lots of activities and prizes!

I just felt I had to comment on this thread. My family loves Storybook Village and Caroline and the staff of SBV. We attended the open house, fell in love with the place (and the staff) and have been there every weekend since opening. I'd come more often if I didn't work full time. I also have to comment on the drop in child care. I left my child there just last weekend while I ran some errands. My child was with the same staff member when I left and when I returned. That staff member was dedicated to my child. I understand if there had been more drop in care that day she would have had more children but I have to say that I did not worry about my daughter for even one second. Not only did I feel that she was safe, Caroline even called me around 20 minutes after I left to let me know my child was okay (there was some crying when I first left!). Caroline and her husband make an effort to get to know their customers and I have to be honest, I don't feel like a customer - I feel like I am among friends. No, I did not know them prior to July 9th (grand opening). Yes, I do feel they have come up with an excellent place for my children to play, learn, imagine, express their creativity in a safe, clean environment. Check it out....I think you and your children will like it! I have a hard time getting my kids to leave every time as they both have so much fun (they are almost 3 and almost 6).

We finally drove out to this place. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere. It was empty so I don't think you would have to worry about strangers kidnapping your children. It's cute, but very girly. I don't see how they will stay open out there. There are a few cooler places in Cool Springs and Brentwood too. The lady seems nice enough, but it's not a place worth driving out there to.

Sorry Denise, we opened in Spring Hill because we do have lots of children here, and it is a drive all the way to Cool Springs. You're right there are lots of cooler places out your way, we are just a "mom and pop" shop who wanted to make a comfortable, place for moms and kids to come and play right in town on a very little budget.
We may not make it, but we sure are trying, and welcome all the helpful advice.
Thanks for taking the time to visit and giving your feedback:)

Agree Denise! I would say it only appeals to kids under 6. Not a lot to do. Everyone was super nice but I give it less than a year. Good concept. Poor execution.

We went to a party there and it was average. Nothing really special. It was clean. It just amazes me that people who open these businesses don't just sit down with a calculator and figure out ahead of time what a money pit they are opening. I can't figure out how in the world they will make enough to survive. We shall see.

I would agree. I think they tried to copy Monkey Treehouse which my kids love, but they missed the mark. The toys are average and same stuff we have at home. There is just nothing spectacular. I would describe Monkey Treehouse as spectacular so we go there a lot.

There is one in Bellevue and one in Cool Springs. They are both really neat. I take my kids (ages 1 and 4) there a lot. We went to Storybook once and I would agree that Monkeys Treehouse is way better. themonkeystreehouse.com is the website I think (or you could google it)

Storybook Village is cute and I've taken my kids there once. I think it's better for girls, but I have 2 little girls so they like it. I don't know what boys would really play with there and they do kind of run it as a daycare too. I think it would be fun for a little girl's party.

I think ya'll are just being cruel. I have 2 boys and a girl, 1,3,5. The boys love the train tables, the hot wheels and just ALL the run around room. I love that the staff won't let older children bully younger children. We've been to The Monkey Treehouse in Cool Springs and frankly, the staff is rude and doen't leave the desk or pay attention to anything. There is no where to sit and there are so many nooks and crannies. No one watches the children and my children have been pushed and worse the day we went. Even on the busiest day at Storybook Village, I've never seen that. Toys? Monkey Treehouse has the same stuff less the creativity that this place has. AND it's in Spring Hill. So stop bullying a Spring Hill business, it's a nice place.

I did have my son's party at the Fun Party Zone nextdoor and when I asked the owner (I think she was the owner) what was nextdoor she said they were "looney" and had badmouthed THEM online. Apparently, this is part of the Storybook marketing strategy from what I've read here.
As the Owner of the Fun and Party Zone, I'd like to comment here. Ryan, I hope you enjoyed your party and have brought your child back for their free return bounce. I don't remember calling anyone "looney" however, we business owners have to be a little crazy just to be open in this economy. It's not easy. Yes, when asked I have answered truthfully. I run my business using my ethics, not someone else's. When SBV's door was ajar recently, well after they had closed for the day, I called them and made sure their business was secure by closing their door. I didn't have to, but it was the right thing to do. I try to treat everyone right, but I probably don't always succeed. People are free to comment and some do so based on one bad experience, not experiences over a period of time. I work hard to remain positive, but will not lie when asked about someone or something. I try to only post positive info about other businesses because I know how hard it is to keep a business going. Business owners aren't allowed to have a bad day, but we still do sometimes. We work hard to run a hospitable, clean, conscientious business and usually succeed. You are able to choose where to take your kids and we hope it's here. Our facility is for ALL ages from 1 to adult and we pride ourselves on our PRIVATE parties. We have been in Spring Hill for five and one-half years and hope to be here many more to serve you. Thanks! See you soon.
