Why are you so proud of having a septic tank instead of sewer? If you are on a septic tank, your crap never leaves your own property.

Did the Lord mean for human sewerage to go into the ground or the water we drink?
A good working septic system filters the human sewerage deep into the ground and can help grow the trees, flowers, grass, even some gardens and crops.
By collecting sending the human sewerage to sewer treatment plants in such large volume, then dumping that chemical added waste water into the streams, creeks, and rivers, sickens and diseases the fish and water wildlife, pollutes the water, then the next city draws it out down stream for their drinking water treats the water again and gives it to our children too drank NO WONDER FOR ALL THE CANSER CASES, HEART DIEASES and doctor offices full of sick and dying people!
The more properly working septic systems the less taxpayer costs, less demands for sewer lines, less demand for city services, less all around taxpayer costs and much cleaner better water for us and our children to drink!
The healthier we all might be!

But the water department wants your money regardless if your are on the sewer line or have a septic tank, there are just money hungry and that is not right.

Love of money is the root of all evil, Some once thought to be good men have become it might seem liars, cheats, not good at their word, allowing the system to control them, to do something they know in their hearts is not right!
A good name better chosen than Great Riches!

Separate Managment and Book Keeping
Separate the Sewer and Water Department as to not cross contaminate the tools used when working on those lines.
Separate as to not cross contaminate the Book Keeping!
How is booking really done, Why should water customers pay for those using the City Sewer service?
Why should County Water Customers pay for City Sewer Service and not get the same service?
#6 Dec 23, 2010
County Water Customers pay for city Sewer service in the form of rate increase because the Water Department and Sewer Department are combined and book keeping does it.
When the Lewisburg City Sewer plant expands and Cornersville sewer plant is repaired being it is now all one department, we collect the money any way we can.
If Sewer was seperate from water then water rates might be cheaper even sewer rates might be cheaper.
For sure people might know better how the money was spent, with line iteam book keeping.

For what I have read in the paper and heard around town the water department is charging citizens of Lewisburg a sewer fee based on their water useage even though they are not hooked up to the sewer and are on a septic tank. Some of these people have been paying this charge for almost 15 to 20 years. It just doesn't seem right for people to have to pay for a service they are not receiving much less based on their water usage. Don't know if its true but was told if a persons water bill was $30.00 then they would be charged $45.00 (1 and a half times the water) for sewer and the total bill would be $75.00 even though they are not hooked to the sewer. What makes this right and to me I agree that this needs to be changed and this was before they jumped the water rates 18% last month.

Be independant or be at the mercy of tyrants.
Independant living products will be the future.
#9 Dec 23, 2010
I am one of the home owners who has been charged for sewer and I have never tapped on. In order to tap on, I must first purchase a tap fee and then pay to have my plumbing "rearranged" and piped out the front of my home. I lived in the city limits before the sewer was installed and should not be made to tap on at my cost. I have paid a fee for a service that I have not used, nor can use, for almost 15 years. Sounds like something is just not fair to me ???

There is no upside to crapping on your own property. Ever heard of water table, underground water,non-perking septics? How can anyone make the argument for city water but not for city or county sewer? How would you like to be on well water when so many septics don't perk in Marshall County due to the rock?
With droughts and floods occuring with more frequency, how can we take comfort in our water sources?
#11 Dec 23, 2010
How can so many be anti landfill, but pro septic tank?
#12 Dec 23, 2010
Maybe we need to fix our government and its agencies. I would like to see us pro-active on fixing our services. We have tremendous inefficiences in our government agencies. Duplication runs rampant. We have ever growing government pay -rolls and ever shrinking tax revenue. Let's not throw the sewer out due to our lack of committment to seek more efficient government. Look at our recreation department losing $700,000 per year. That amount of money would pay for every family's sewer in Marshall county. Consolidate our agencies and do away with expensive personnel.
#13 Dec 24, 2010
Water Table sure so how can the cities be allowed to dump non - treated wastes and treated wastes directly on to the ground and into the creeks, rivers, streams when there are heavy rains, and floods, as man holes over flow even sewer plants dump untreated over flows! There should be no non perkings septic tanks, if there are the Marshall County health department is failing to do their job! Contact your county commissioner!
Next does not the Lewisburg Water Department spread openly on top of the soil sewer sludge at several different locations some farms, land used for grazing of cattle, and growing of crops, has sewer sludge not been spread on some local industrial land?
No non-perking or working septic tanks should be allowed, yet equal justice for all do you want all of Marshall County to be required to be connected to city sewer for if you require one then lets require all as to equal justice for all!
Can the taxpayer's afford those COSTS!

No one is trying to throw the sewer out due to lack of commitment only wanting fair rates charged due to being fair!
Better management practices, Management, public board members who when making public statements are good at their words.
Have you asked why the Lewisburg Water Department Management and Board are working on improving that Department's retirement program, funding of some say 14% health insurance increases, do you know that large sum of money is being spent on repaired of Connersville sewer plant, have you read their finical reports, have you asked about what booked yet depreciated property means?
Do you want too pay maximum for something, minimum only charge is allowed, yet you don't need or use the service, if so lets do city gas the same way, just because the city gas line is within 100 feet of your property, based on your water meter maximum reading,
let the Lewisburg City Gas Department charge for service available based on maximum water metered usage?
Do you want to pay unfair sewer charges when others dont, some dont even pay any sewer charges even thou the city sewer lines are within 100 feet of their property lines some say?
Rec. Center !
The losses, waste, sitting around, talking, card playing, some say possibly gambling, leaking roofs, non working equipment, storage of private property in public buildings, at the Rec. Center is known by the many in the public and street talk has it even the Mayor and City Council members have been told some may have even seen for themselves yet nothing seems done WHY?
#15 Dec 24, 2010
Do you think they should charge for all city and county services, just because those services are offered "made Available" at maximum charge to everyone where you use those services are not, just to help support the local government and costs!
Say the County or City places a water line, sewer line, gas line, electric line what ever public utility next to anyone property, so to say make that service available then where those people hook on are not make those property owners pay maximum bills based on their neighbors maximum average bills or any maximum metered readings!
#16 Dec 24, 2010
Look at your electric bill and see how much "rent" you are charged for your meter each month. Does it ever get paid off???
#17 Dec 24, 2010
Many people have known for awhile that the water department is just spending money like there is no tomorrow. Seem like it is poorly managed yet 18% INCREASE on your water bill and they keep spending your money outside of Lewisburg(cornersville & lynnville) and charging people in Lewisburg sewer rates based on water usage even though some of those people are not hook on to the sewer. This is in no way fair, again looks like poor management skills to me.
I want to see the excuses the city council and mayor makes up when next year the rec. center loses as much money as it did this year and nothing has been done to correct the problem but excuses.
#18 Dec 24, 2010
It's all in proportion. Your septic tank can easily handle your own crap but add all of your neighbors crap to your septic ; your definitly are gona have problems.
Realize we did not just take in marshall counties poisons but all of middle Tennessees'.
The Water table is already poisoned!. No fish in the creek. Dont drink the well water. Thank goodness someone outside of Lewisburg (TDEC) keeps an eye on our drinking water. The 480 tons of garbage & crap per day x the # of years; is not even fathomed by most.
Divide that amount up by the County population -How much would be dumped on your property?
Sewer system? Treatment costs money , Chemicals cost money - oh a good rain is comming put the chemical treatment cost in your pocket and open the gate to sh_t creek. No wonder we are on TDECS radar!
All at once we get a double digit increase in utility bills. This should have been taken care of all along in small increments.
What about the deteriorating sewer system problem that will only get worse and cost more than the sewer plant? Did it go away or will Government wait until its so bad we get triple digit increases?
I'll will take care of my own Sh-T rather than live under a Corrupt government that can force what you pay.
Government will take care of government before they will take care of you.
I'm sure we have a qualified degreed chemist taking care of things.
Lets make the industrial recruiter the water managment guy. Duh!
Why septic? Why solar panels? why independent heat sources?
Freedom from being dictated to ,thats why.
Independent living products will be the future economy if the dictatorial government will allow it.
There is no freedom without independence!
#19 Dec 24, 2010
Independent or not if your property line is within 100 feet of a lewisburg sewer line you are going to be charged a sewer rate based on your water usage regardless if you are not hooked to the sewer. Also, septic tanks are self contained tanks where is waste is bioligical reduced over time by microbs that are aided by products like rid-ex. They are inspected and approved on an individual bases by the M.C. health department. If the septic tank quit working there are hugh charges to correct these problems.
