As a pastor's wife, I can see there is a lot that needs fixing in the church.

I won't get offended at any of your answers, I PROMISE!!!

I personally have been in ministry for 16 years. I have some real issues with the church!!! I have met some really mean, rude church people. I have seen much judgement and little love. I have been broken hearted for so many people who have left the church broken.

It's time for Church Leaders to take another look at how we do church!!!!! Please help us! Please be real and honest.

The church is confusing folks that are unsaved. This is nothing new, really, it's been going on for centuries. Some sects are teach the 'milk' of the gospel message: i.e. the Great Commission (water baptism, tithing, sabbith keeping, etc). Some teach the 'soup': a conglomeration of messages that are confusing and very unscriptural. This mostly consists of teaching: speaking in tongues, dietary restrictions, etc. This is not for us and not of this Age.

Teaching the gospel of grace is the 'meat' of God's glorious salvation message. That we (all people) are "saved by grace, not by works, lest any man should boast." That's it. Nothing else will save us from the wrath to come except God's GRACE. It's completely paid for by the innocent blood of his Son Jesus. Everthing else is empty works.

So, that's the one glaring reason I quit attending the earthly 'church'. I'm fed up with the Traditions of Man (empty works). We have yet to find a group in our area that teaches the Grace Message. The Grace Message was proclaimed to us (the Gentiles) by our Apostle Paul. So far, all the congregations in our vicinity are just dressed up social groups.

Anyway, if anyone truly wants to learn the truth, one can read more about it from the Berean Bible Society at http://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/ . It was their writings that led me to Christ in 1981. I was a devout Church attender but not saved, until I read Pastor Stam's writings.

Best wishes in Christ.

"May we meet with the Lord in the air ..." I Thess. 4:17 (speaking of The Rapture of the Saints) Note: All who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, that He is Son of God and son of man, are called Saints.:o)

I been going to church all my life and i moved not to long ago... I live in chapel hill and quite frankly all the churches around here are too boring and not focused enough on worship and praise especially the baptist churches. They dont speak all the gospel such as spiritual gifts and the holy spirit. So as of right now i have not found a church to call mine.

Hey Justin,
Sounds like you have a lot of the same beliefs as we do and you are a worshipper. I am the worship minister at The Rock, you should check our church out, sounds much like what you are looking for.
We have several people who drive to our church from Chapel Hill. Our church is located in Columbia.

THIS SUNDAY IS EASTER!

Maybe you think church isn't for you, or maybe you have been hurt by church people before but what if it could be different? What if church could be a place to build new friendships? What if you could go to a place where love is always extended and you are never made to feel less than anyone else? What if you could go to a church that is fun, new and expecting God to do big things? A church with a rockin' band? A church that you can come just as you are and not feel ashamed of who you are or where you've been? A church where you aren't going to be talked about in the gossip corner? I know where that place is! The Rock Church in Columbia, TN!

For those of you I have invited, don't think I am giving up on you! Fat chance on that! Now is the time for you to come worship with us, fellowship with us and get to know more about God!

If you are a first time visitor there is going to be a free gift for you too and you don't have to do anything but show up! Believe me, it's not one of those stupid gifts that you will never use! You will definitely use this gift, you put it in your car......you got it, a Gasoline Gift Card!!!!! And it's free, pretty much like God's gift of salvation.. it's free! Let me know if you want to know about either of those free gifts!!!

Love you bunches,

Julie

I saw too much of my church (and all religion) here:

Organized religion is too interested in pushing thought reform under the guise of spirituality.

All religion is a means to justify all ends. Though ultimately is simply not possible through christ or any teaching. Many churches/followers are corrupt or simply derranged. I suggest Divinity from within. I feel that if one is to be spirtualy connected or have any real connection with god it should be the of the individual's own creation or interpretation not that of the church. Eliminate the middle man.

You know, a lot of us quit going to church when we graduated from school...almost like we graduated from church. I know it may sound crazy, but my old church focused so much on the youth...all kinds of activities and retreats. I understand that's important, as they are coming to know Christ and establishing themselves as young Christians, but for the adults there weren't any activities outside of traditional church services. What about fellowship building activities, and classes and retreats to keep ourselves restored and excited to be Christians...something that encourages us, after all, we are so blessed that through grace by faith we are saved. We should be living lives that look like praise, and I think as a body of believers it would be nice to continue that even after we are all grown up.

Churches have lost focus on what is really important. They spend too much of peoples time and effort putting on a big production to draw people in when this is not what new people visiting a church need. They need a place where they can find and make friends before ever having the gospel message shuved down thier throats. Even as a Christian, having the gospel message blasted at me the first visit is awkward. Farmers don't plant seeds in hard ground. They plow a field over several times first. Hence it is more important for people in a church to befriend visitors. I have other gripes but this is a big one.

And so many church's want to tickle ears with great news and happy times, some people don't want to hear the hard truth, so they get mad at the pastor and either quit or make it so the HE quits and moves on. And too many churches/pastors doctrines preach a grey area, not black and white, Last I read, Jesus didn't preach a grey area, He preached right is right and wrong is a sin.

Most churches of today have forgotten what it really about..As for one serving doughnut and coffee and bringing it in the sanctuary..Children eating in the church...Most churches anymore don't give salt they tickle the ears of the people..Or in stead of having real church.. ithas plays or taking up money for the woman who clean the church.. or watching the watches on how much time they have left.. If we focus on God he will show us what is going on in our church if we open our hearts 100% stay on our knee's to our lord, don't compromise to the world..If God is put first...and nothing else, the holy spirit will lead people..I want the truth the salt God takes care of the rest I my self do not see that in the churches anymore...I miss going I miss it all....
