Why have the workers stoped working on the 2nd phase on I65? Are thay on strike? I thought thay were going to start on the bridge on Goose creek.

Not scheduled to start until "Spring" of 2013.
What you are saying makes sense, Dave, however, that's not how the government operates. It it were, they might consider widening 31 before WalMart invades. Or, if they really had sense, they would be pushing development on/near Saturn Parkway, so as not to further congest 31 and the other feeder roads.

Does anyone know why it's still 60 when going through the area where there isn't construction anymore?

I was wondering the same thing myself. It makes no sense.

The widening they have done so far has only helped Franklin residents and not Spring Hill residents since all it did was move the backup lower down on 65 when heading to Spring Hill.

Yup. I'm already trying to go 70-80 through there anyway. So I guess it doesn't really matter. I have seen cops posted up right before the widening going 65N. That's sort of a trap right there (with it being 60 up to there)

I agree, Makes no sense. The state needs to widen 65 to Saturn Pky. Theres already a bottle neck there already.

But would it not have made sense to run two crews to do this all at once and kinda meet in the middle? Traveling either way still sucks arse. In fact, I think it is worse now if that was even possible. Grrr........this could havd been over with in less than three years surely!

Thats what I thought. I read in the newspaper a few years ago the construction was going to be done in 3 phases. All of the construction would be finished in 3 years. Well 2 years into it and the workers quit working.

So they finished with the main phase, and next they will start widening from the 'new' bottleneck down to 840.

I am hoping it will go much quicker this phase, because:

A) only talking about 2 miles of work as opposed to 4 the first time (from exit 61 to 59 vs. 65 to 61).

B) Less rock/bridges to blast and expand. The hardest part now will be updating the Goose Creek Exit 61

It sure would be nice to see the trucks starting up to get going. I wish they would have at least taken the expanded lanes down to exit 61, because now it REALLY feels like a bottleneck. But at least it moves, albeit very slowly.

As LeoD pointed out, I believe they will get underway in the Spring.

Ok people, The road signs have said for over 2 months the left lane ends, Why when traffic backs up and people wait in line in the two center lanes people fly past you on the left lane after the lane end signs? All you people do is hold up traffic because the people in the center lanes have to stop and let you in.
