It would be a great place if: the long-time locals didn't walk around like this place is their's, just based on because they were born here and show their nonsense hatred of the people who weren't from here; and if low income housing wasn't popping up all over the place.
We are retired and am very careful where we spend our money. If someone says, you ain't from around here are you?, we put our money away for someone who appreciates us.
We wish it wasn't that way but it is.
It is what it is. They even have a name for those who live here and those who just visit, now tell me they don't.
Until they have a love a yankee week, that will be the day, or someone of local political power stands up against their behavior, I will not believe they would ever change.
You'all come back, now, ya hear!

Do you know who is guilty of the hatred? What have you done to end it? It looks like it is us against them just like DC puts rep against demos. Nothing will ever get better in lewisburg until we end this hatred. Yankee should be a banned word. They wear it out locally.
I am tired of it. It is up to leadership to change the image and show the love for everyone no matter where they were born.

I would like to take my sweetie to dinner and a movie Wednesday night. Not big on a steak house with bars and loud people. Any suggestions?

This person speaks the truth.

Now we have an Advance Financial, next to where Freds used to be. Way to encourage poverty in Loserburg.

As for me, I hate it. Nothing here for entertainment, and you have to go to Columbia, Cool Springs, or Nashville for decent shopping and dining. I just hope that I can sell house next year and get out of here

"decent shopping and dining" Quality clothes and romantic fine dining where did those days go for me. In a word, marriage.
If quality clothes and romantic fine dining disappeared for you because you got married, you should never have got married. I am married and I have those things. Sure, I could have had more if I didn't marry, but it's your fault if you can't get those things. You made choices. Oh, and I have no debt on any credit cards. I have money in a savings account as well. Guess I made the right decisions. But even you can save and go out if you made the right choices.

Living in Lewisburg also calls for adjustments with balance.
We only have debts less than a year of being paid off.
I grew up in a big city. My husband is a country style person. So, I adapted to his ways.
I feel so alive when I am in bigger cities but moving is not in our reasonable future.
God brings people together for His purpose.
This city has good people.
What do you mean by: God brings people together for His purpose? Of course he does, and for no other reason, BUT... just because people come together does not mean it was God's will or his doing. We all have free will to make our own decisions both good and bad (not evil bad, just poor choices). God is not into the matchmaking business otherwise he would have a bad record. Just setting the record straight so as not to give God a bad reputation based on your claims.

When God does something or moves someone through his spirit, there will be no doubt as to the hand of God doing the moving. Where there is doubt, you won't find God in the mix. Do not confuse this with what is called sanctifying. That is only God giving his seal of approval in making something Holy.

we moved from a big city to Lewisburg and we think this place is just fine. we dont want to live in a place with a bunch of "night life" clubs and attractions to draw huge crowds. we like the sounds of the quiet nights and no traffic. we go shopping once a month, and if Kroger doesnt have it - we dont need it.

If you have money it's fine. Just don't ever plan to make a decent living here.

I can agree with that. Nobody has money and those who do, keep it to themselves and other locals they grew up with. Sad but true. I wish it wasn't this way.

Moved here to get away from it all. We're happy, but have noticed the men are friendlier than the women...too much gossip. We pretty much stay to ourselves

We didn't research the town well enough before we decided on Lewisburg. The town was small, the location between Nashville and Huntsville and the housing prices were what attracted us. We had no idea the town had been over run with rehabs and VA housing.

VA housing??? Isn't that for communities which have honorable people who served not those who strived for disability and medical retirements? We are the low income capital of this part of the world.
