He went in the 1st round to the New England Patriots. There is a good chance that a local kid might be in a Super Bowl. Pretty cool, and an inspiration to a lot of kids in this area for sure! Hopefully, Mike Minor can continue doing well for the Braves and Marshall County will have two great pro athletes playing in American leagues (Marcus Haislip plays in Europe). Does our area qualify as a hot-bed of athletic talent?
Easy answer, no. Good on all of them though, but: All you listed are fairly new to the next level and are not considered stars. Most are untested. When we get several hall of famers and such then maybe. For as much attention and effort we put into sports we should be a hot bed for talent but we aren't. I am sure there are some sole schools in this nation which have 2 or 3 hall of famers alone and that would be a hot bed. I wish we would put as much effort into education and maybe we could attract businesses and factories and help the community and county as a whole. Brawn and brains go hand in hand for those who are truly successful in sports and honestly we may be lacking one of those, holding our so-called sport stars back.
