Yes, the new highways are supposed to bring more jobs, and people to L-burg. So far, I've noticed maybe a slight rise in the population (I know the roads are not finished yet). Anyways, something I have noticed is a pretty big hike in homeless people. I saw a guy at Wal-Mart setting in the front smoking whom I also seen that morning down the road doing the same. Then, a guy at McDonalds with a dog. Lastly, I saw one guy laying down in the grass with another guy beside him selling homeless papers at the corner of Commerce and West Ellington Parkway. Anyone else noticed this?

My guess is that with the economy in a weak state, there probably are more homeless than in past years. Many homeless also choose to be that way as we will have homeless even in good economic times. And I am sure the police are well aware of them. Hopefully, those who need care and actually willing to work will find it. The others, they will just continue migrating from place to place.

"phillip harber", ignore them. They like to see what your doing so they don't have to see what THEY are doing. Can you imagine THAT visual?

Don't get me wrong. I was not calling anyone out. Just something new to me.. Around here anyways. Wondering if something new closed down, or what was going on.

no offense taken tyrone. this paper as some will call " homeless" is actually a constitutionally recognized information which effects not only the homeless rights but all citizens as well. all we are is a vessel in which carries this information out to the public in which other ways may have never been known or recognized. thank you for your kind response.

Definitely a great thing to have. I understand that "homeless" people are stereotyped. Which is wrong, they are people just like anyone else. The real fact I bet is that most people don't realize what it is like to be in the situation until they are actually in it.

I was homeless for a very short while, but I got up dusted my ass off and got a job. I am at odds however of it happening again. There are a lot of people are just a few pay checks from being in the same situation thanks to our wonderful gooberment. (notice I did not just blame Obummer) Thanks for throwing us all under the bus by sending Jobs over seas.

Yeah... Romney the republicant sent tons of jobs overseas along with his tax avoiding money. had he got his way, we'd all be out of a job right now.

What makes me madder than fire is when you have a person whom has a brand new laptop, packs of cigarettes, and even drugs but can not get public housing. I understand that is hard to do, but some people should get their priorities right.

44% of homeless people are employed but don't earn enough to provide shelter, food, clothing for their families.31 out of every 10,000 homeless people are veterens. On a given night, just over 636,000 people are homeless in the United States. The number of people in families with children makes up 37 percent of the overall population, a total of 236,181 people in 77,186 family households Any of us could lose everything we have and end up homeless. Tonight as we go to sleep in our warm homes, someone is out in the elements, freezing to death. While we had a nice, hot meal... a child ate from the garbage can..someone else's scraps.

I have to say that I am truly worried about our city, county, state and country these days. there are going to be many many more homeless families in the coming days due to layoffs and companies only having part time employees because of the increase in taxes. my family may be included in that group. God help us all.

This again, is not true. I wished people would stop putting the carriage in front of the horse. Not saying this won't happen at all, but I am saying it will not happen on a scale that everyone makes it sound like. Job losses occur everyday with or without burdens on small businesses and many new ones are created. And the number of small businesses with between 50-100 employees is less than 2% of the total businesses. Businesses like Papa John's will increase their prices by a whooping .4 cents per pie to pay for their employees healthcare.

The only people screaming OMG! are the naysayers before ever giving it a chance.
