This makes me so angry. Why don't people leave these animals alone in the first place, and maybe they wouldn't get mauled by them! This reminds me of the killer whale attack at Sea World a few months ago. "Killer Whale' Hmm.... lets put this animal on exhibit and if it kills someone, we'll blame the (KILLER) whale. I have no sympathy for Kandra as I feel he has a huge part in the blame. So the bear gets euthanized? THIS IS A BLACK BEAR! They can't just let this bear go back into the wild because they have it's instincts so screwed up, so hey, lets just kill the bear, after all it was the bears decision to live in a sanctuary with human interaction. You people who confine these animals get what you deserve! You wrestle with the bears, they're going to wrestle back idiot!

I agree , if your gonna put yourself at risk, then your gonna suffer the consequences, it isnt the bears fault, is the idiot that captured and contained it

This jerk has been in controversy many times and to hold these animals in a cage and not in their natural habitat is cruel.
The man who was mauled is a tragic happening but a bear is a bear is a bear.A wild animal.

When will people see that? Ohio laws governing animals needs to be updated. There are no laws, outlawing keeping all his other animals. There needs to be a swift overhaul.Ohio is always behind the times.
Do what now

Here here! This why you are one of y favorite posters! You know Ohio ranks near the bottom of strict laws regarding cruelty to animals. So right, behind the times!

Sorry I think putting this animal down was a mistake. The bear is a wild animal and the person who worked with him task all the risks involved. Maybe when a human kills an animal and they get caught we should put them down. Shame on these people.

They just buried it? Why didn't they at least have a huge cook out. Dumb hillbilly's never know what to do when their animals kill someone.

I'm not some loony animal rights kook, but this is just ridiculous. Messing with a dangerous wild animal is just stupid. And blaming the animal when the inevitable happens is even more so.

They friggin kill alligators down here when someone ventures to close to their habitat without knowing what to do. The friggin animal runs upward of 35 MPH in bursts. If you’re going to go into a wetland, bring rabbits or chickens. The gods will leave you alone if you give them a PIECE offering.

Lets get a grip here! The bear was put down, the family has to mourn the loss of their son, and Mazzola should have had a better system to contain the animals LOCKDOWNS!!!!Their are none there! Cages are opened when watering bears and this is not being safe! I have some grave concerns over Mazzola's place and the recent tragedy. His actions may very well fuel the fodder for the big AR groups to rip through Ohio with animal bans. Although my personal opinions are such, that I don't think everyone should have a large wild carnivore (many shouldn't even have kids or be allowed to drive a car)

I do have a big problem with banning laws. I know a great many people who do right by their exotic animals and provide safe and humane treatment. Many of the nicest zoos in the USA started off as someone's private collection.
I don't feel like the bear should have been put down, but understand why the parents did. I certainly don't want to see any harm come to any of the other animals there, but feel like there will now be some real serious "blowback" from this tragedy. After handling wildlife for over 20 years, I am pretty much "in the know" of most everyone and the reality of exotic animal keeping.
When a human dies, everything changes. It's all over. Tt's done. He needs to know that and work with the Animal Welfare people instead of against the Animal Rights. It seems HSUS and PeTA is already creating a "cause" out of this, with no regard for the parents of the deceased young man, and certainly not for the long term well-being of the animals there.
