inmates will not give out the kind of information that this person is telling.(snitches get stitches)an inmate saying. This is an ex-inmate/employee trying to cause problems. WLTX is all over this story, where were they 5 years ago when the budget for the DOC was cut by millions and 1200 employees were let go. That was done not by the DOC, but by Sanford and the state congress. Are there cell phones in the prison. Yes. Why? Because there is not enough money to man all the post that are necessary to stop them from comming in. One officer to patrol almost 2 miles of fence. Get real.

overcrowding, underfunding, low pay for guards, long hours, no respect, hardened criminals.....put all these together and yes, something is going to go wrong. solution? don't know, investigations costing taxpayers millions, early release to make more room, raise taxes for more funding? however, most of the time the criminals do have more rights than the victims. anybody got a solution? would love to hear it, maybe someone in Lee Co would listen to.
I work at lee co. we need help , the I/M have more right then the officer.

If I may comment. There are officers who do cater to certain inmate in scdc. The reason why I know this is that I have seen with my own eyes few officers were not only passing illegal items but getting sexual favors from certain inmates. I was locked up in the womens prison for 2months and saw an inmate beat to a pulp and the officer didn't do nuthing about it. Even supplying money in the inmates cooper trust fund for favors. I agree with the inmate. If they don't put a stop to it it will get ugly. In prison if you get caught telling it they lable you a trouble maker and make your life a living hell! But when I got out I've reported it and still the security is not where it should be. The warden knows this but don't want to spend the necessary money to not only beef up security cameras' but fire the officers who is doing wrong. This reminds me of a movie called Civil Brand. If you don't know what the movie is about check it out and you will see what really goes on in prisons. This is real.

I totally believe this story is 100% accurate. I know a man in jail on Broad River Road who leaves to get things (with at least one guard knowing) and comes back all the time. He's in there for 6 years for vehicular (sp?) manslaughter, and has served 3 years so far. He is allowed to go pick up trash on the side of the road, and his "friends" on the outside will bring him things (weed, cigarettes, pills, a bottle of gin, money, a pre-paid cell phone) and if she pays the guy that drives the van $20, he gets to ride off with her for 30 minutes or so. Don't be so naive as to think things like this are not happening. My question is, why would a prisoner call the news and tell them that?

It is hard for me to believe that inmates could leave any prison with razor wire on the fences. But every prison has inmates working outside the prisons and you can bet your life most of them will be bringing contraband back in stuffed up their rectums. I have seen some inmates that their rectum was so large he could put a small cell phone up his butt.( Sissy boys and gays). It happen all the time while i worked at the old CCI prison where i was in charge of the contraband and investigation section.

the people running the prisons are all "cousins" with the inmates ands they bring drugs cellphones and other things in the jail for their "peoples". i have been in prison several times and the general rule is. money talks and bullshit walks. Basically for the right price, you can live quite comfortably in SCDC these days. That is, if you are the right "peoples".

All this is bunk, yeah I said bunk. Lies in other words. No inmate gets to go anywhere outside the instution. If he is picking up trash outside the fences he is working and IN sight. Sure he may find something lying there like alcohol or even drugs. But he is not going off and meeting people and especially with officers. Lawest you are a joke. The inmates do NOT have flat screen tvs. They took away the inmates right to own tvs when that idiot (Michael Moore)from Texas came to take over SCDC. He took away all the weights and brought in all the violent offenders working out side the fence, even though none of them were causing problems. It has always been the NON violent ones that give trouble. Notice they got rid of him as soon as they could when the other idiot (David Beasley) we had as governor, was gotten out of office. I spent 8 years in your precious little system and saw officers stealing from inmates, saw then disappear because they were caught bring in drugs even had one principle of education at BRCI arrested for durug possession. So the ones keeping them locked up are worse then the ones behind bars. Plus many police officers on the street are more of a criminal then many inside. Notice I am not hiding behind some fictious name! Where are you peoples guts?

If we would look at other countries and see how they fix their problems with crime we might be better off. We send more innocent people to prison than other countries combined. Its our public defenders who coerce innocent defendents into pleading guilty so they don't have to take the time to investigate and help them out. Just scare em to death to plead guilty and move on to the next victim. And yes, a lot of suspects are actually victims. Our Judicial System is so corrupt and it will never get any better because no one wants to open their eyes and see it for what it really is. It sucks and is really sad. I worked in a prison for a yr and saw firsthand how correctional officers 9 times out of 10 will provoke inmates and get shit stirred up. Most of it is the corrupt correctional officers will a bigger head than they need. for all of you out there who abuse inmates, it won't go unnoticed. God will take care of you in his own time. He don't like UGLY.

And another thing that gripes me is that I have seen it with my own eyes from working at scdc that in the kitchen you will see boxes of food that read "NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION" How is the hell do they get away with such crap? I am in disbelief everytime I think about that. I wouldn't believe it if I had not seen it for myself. Does anyone care?
