oh, I know it's rude, but that is so true. I wouldn't WANT to live everyday knowing that I'm never going to see the light of day again outside of jail.

Thank God! No one knows the dangers these workers face everyday. The behavior you hear and see in the schools are often coming from the homes, where workers often spend years providing services to these families at half the pay of teachers. The workers are underpaid, overworked. They have to make on the spot judgment calls that could backfire on them if the wrong call is made by the worker. They have to fight the parents, upper level management at DSS,(who constantly shoot down any ideas the direct line workers have in trying to provide better service and protection for the children), the courts,(who hold the workers more responsible than the parents for the outcome of the case), the constant postponements and continuances the workers face in trying to have the court terminate the parental rights of parents,(so that the children can find permanent homes), and the damaged children who are so screwed up by the situations that they are coming from that they are almost impossible to place adoptively.(Workers even have a hard time placing what babies there are for adoption due to "shaken baby" syndrome, crack addiction, and fetal alcohol syndrome).

Though many people do not care for DSS, and there are workers out there that need to be in another line of work, most caseworkers care about the children and want the best for them.

These three people died needlessly, due to a mentally ill parent who wanted his wife and children dead. He blew these workers' brains out, in the county office, in full view of their co-workers. The co-workers had to remain in the offices until law enforcement could allow them to leave. They, and other clients in the office that day, had to stand there with blood, brains, and guts sprayed all over them. They watched on remote TV in the offices, as the "then" commissioner of the agency "blamed" the workers for their co-workers' deaths. "Had they been more sensitive, this would not have happened". When the commissioner goes in to "comfort" the workers and clients, he did not know they had heard his statements to the press. Imagine his surprise at the reception he got from his workers.

This man, one year before the killings,(according to some friends of mine that lived near his family), had to remain in their homes for almost four hours, while he held a gun under his chin, standing in his front yard, threatening to kill himself. When law enforcement finally got him, he spent 72 hours at Mental Health.(Hey, they have no money for services, either).

My thoughts remain, and have always remained, with the families of these workers who have waited twelve years for this man to pay for what he has done. I also feel for his wife and children who have had to bear the shame and embarrassment of this tragedy.

Why did we have to feed and provide medical treatment and shelter for him for 12 years after he did the crime. It wasn't like they didn't know he did it. The need to speed it up. They need to start injecting some gangstas. I bet if they kill a few of them in short order, they will think twice about killing another black. I want to see some people executed for the senseless black on black crime. And those people of any race that molest children should be in the injection line to. I think if someone kills someone for a reason other than self defense or in defense of someone else they need to be considered.

According to this website:

http://www.doc.sc.gov/faqs.jsp

It cost $13170.00 per inmate per year for incarceration in SC. We could do so much more with this money. Let's speed up the process. These killers dont give their victims time to say good bye to their familys or time to make peace with God. Why do they deserve all this time.

This one didn't get "THE CHAIR". He got the "HUMANE THING", Lethal Injection. I think we could save a lot more money if we just used one of those BIG OLE TREES in front of the State House. The cost of a good rope has to be a lot cheaper than the meds they use or the electricity. It shouldn't take more than a couple of Public Executions for EVERYONE to get the picture, and think twice before taking that life, raping that woman, or molesting that child. YES, I do think child molestation and rape should be a capital offense!
