Ms. Washington and her grand daughter might still be alive and well had the police department acted correctly on her behalf.

I think they have most likely met a sad demise. Unfortunately, Cayce Police Departments reputation is sullied with incompetence.
AS they say 1 bad apple can spoil the whole barrell if left to rot. The police department needs to root out the incompetent officers. They have more than thier share to root out. If Lexington County Police Department had responded this family would still be alive I can assure you.

i think if you got to know the officers that work for cayce, you would realize that comment is not accurate. these are men and women who are dedicated to protecting people and property from those who break the law. they do alot of good for the community and rarely get thanked for the job they do. they provide the needy with food baskets at the holidays, toys for needy children at christmas, have blood drives to donate their blood to save others, are overworked and underpaid and rarely appreciated or thanked for their job. these officers help many many people. i have personally become friends with some of the officers and am proud to call them my friends. i wasnt always appreciative of the work they do. i know they spend long hours away from their families and friends to keep people safe and secure. some have even purchased items for needy people out of their own pocket-such as diapers to the mother who cant afford diapers because her husband has skipped out on them, a soda or a meal to a homeless person,, given a person a shirt right out of their closet so they wont be cold in the winter, gloves right off their hands,a motel room to someone who is having a real hard time so they wont freeze in the middle of the night, some will talk to you when no one else will, fans to beat the heat in the winter time, and so much more. they protect our children from drug dealers, there are so many things that cayce police do that gets no attention from the public because it is not newsworthy and that is a shame.i wish more poeple would see the simpl acts that some of the officers do that go above and beyond the call of duty. not all police officers are bad. sure there are always people poorly suited for a paricualr job, or maybe they could use more training, but people in general expect tax dollars to provide all the training and gear the police need and it doesnt even began to cover it. the criminals are better armed than the police officers and i dont know about you, but i would rather have the police officers better trained and armed than some crack head or wanna be gang banger.
so get a clue! it is not about the money. it is about making the community safer for EVERYONE so people do not have to leave in fear of CRIMINALS.
ps-next time BOB why dont you put your cigarette out in your car ashtray instead of out the window and save yourself a 450.00 ticket. that cigarette could potentially cause a fire in the grass and the fire could spread to destroy a business or someones home and kill the people inside, all because you cant take the time to properly dispose of a cigarette(and yes, i was a smoker, but i understand the purpose of an ashtray) and besides, there are times when a ciagerette that is thrown out the window has landed inside a passing vehicle. so stop complaning about the officers and do something to help-have a drive to buy more bullet proof vests or to provide additional training to cash strapped agencies or tazers or other needed equipment.

I think the first question on an application to be a Cayce police officer is are you an asshole. The second question is if not are you willing to change.
I have lived in Cayce all my life and was an explorer for the police dept. and have seen first hand what goes on in there.

Cathy,

We need more info on your post. Are you suggesting that if we ask them before hand if they are an a-hole; and they answer "yes"; that they WON'T get the job or that they WILL get the job?

And, as far as changing; are they willing to change to BECOME an a-hole; or to STOP being one?

What exactly are you saying here?

Cayce PD are by far, the worst department in Lex. Co. They have had this rep for at least 2 decades. I remember as a kid my friends in Columbia hated coming across the bridge because of our inept, corrupt PD.

Sadly, it has gotten worse.

They have become "revenue generators", or tax collectors.

Ride down 12th Street and look at the police station/court house on court day. Cars lined up and down the road.

Cayce needs less police.

being a former police officerfrom another state i can honestly say that not all,but a good majority of cayce police officers are most definitely a holes with major attitude problems and cross the line between law enforcement and intimidation.the majority of the cayce police are rude, egotisitical renegades who think they have some moral superiority and can do what they want. make no mistake.their is a serious problem within the dept and it shows.i have been cussed out by cayce cops on my property.

A police officer is a public servant.they arent the law, they get paid to enforce the law.it is obvious the cayce pd gets the rejects and the bottom of the barrell. just look at them.most are fat over weight sloths who spend more time shoveling hotdogs down their throats then truly doing clean legit law enforcement.it is sad.i have zero respect for the cayce pd. truly a limp wristed police dept who need serious work on the way they treat the citizens of cayce.hey cayce pd..get it together..

My aunt was rapped 45 years ago in a cayce PD jail. She never filed charges but have told the story for 40 plus years. Shame too because back then you didnt say anything about cayce PD or you may end up a "suicide" statistic. Planting evidence or making up stories to get a "probable cause" search of a vehicle because it "looks" out of place. harassment of minorities are all to often in cayce. It is a shame too as if they just clean house in the Cayce PD and get good officers in there that actually care it would make cayce a busy town. Now days even law abiding citizens by pass cayce.disclaimer: my opinion completely and hear say.take it as you wish. But I know for a fact detective and street officers will make up stuff just to search a car from law abiding citizens that may be visiting a friend that lives in a bad area. just because we are in a bad area dont mean we are doing bad things.cayce PD will even make up things like you threw a cigarette out a window. even though no one in the car smokes....

The other day a few of my friends were pulled over for not having a license so I went to pick them up and told the cop that they will not move their truck I called another friend that had a license to pick up the truck. The cop Got in my face and said he got my tag number and if something was to happen he will come find me and charge me. I really didn't understand why he was getting an attitude at me. The way I speak to authorities is same my parents taught me to say yes sir and no sir. But this officer could not control his mouth. I'm sick of these cops someone needs to start up some kind of a protest against them. Also yes I understand that my friends shouldn't have been driving but for the officer to jump all over me and threaten me is just absolute nonsense.

i fell you brother.i have had the exact same type of response from cayce police.i am a former police officer and in the military.i have never seen a police dept that has officers (if you can call them that)who are nothing but punks with guns who will not hesitate to threaten you,or strong arm you at a moments notice if you dare speak or challenge their authority.those limp wristed punks are a joke.and the red haired one that hangs out a bi-lo all the time needs to get his arrogant ass on patrol and do his job.or maybe it is better that he is at bi-lo.lol i am soooooo glad i moved out of that shit hole area.screw the cayce police they suck.nothing but a bunch of krispy kreme eating morons who couldnt solve a crime if you gave them the answer.what a joke.they can catch you if you speed, they can catch you if you litter.but let a real crime happen like have your home burglarized and all your belongings be stolen.and those clowns look at each other like,DUH WHICH WAY DID HE GO GEORGE..dumb asses.and if your lucky like me you get a 90 year old fingerprint guy who does just the bare minimum.great job guys.
