Here's hoping that he's able to get his job back and return to doing his excellent work in our public education system. Maybe someone will fire the officers, etc. who took advantage of their position and attempted to ruin this man's career and reputation.

We recommend that SLED Director Reggie Lloyd and/or Governor Mark Sanford strongly consider placing him on the independent citizen committee that has oversight into investigations of possible misconduct within the SLED/SC law enforcement community.

SLED didn't handle this case - local law enforcement did. Once an alleged victim makes the allegation, it's can be considered a crime against the state and the state (law enforcemtn and circuit solicitor) make the decisions on arrest, indictment and prosecution - not the alleged victim. The coach is innocent until he is proven guilty as all citizens are innocent under our system of justice until they either plead guilty or are convicted by a jury of their peers. Unlawful touching is a far cry from criminal sexual conduct with a minor (one being a misdemeanor and the other a serious felony). While your case may have been factual, this case was not for whatever reason. You have to consider the serious lifelong damage a false allegation like this has done to his family and four children. You may be correct about prior knowledge with regard to the alleged victim, but then again you may be incorrect. So many teenagers have sexual experiences (good and bad), incest, etc. and her history in this respect of course is unknown except to those who maliciously prosecuted the case over the last six months.
Something is being hidden in this case and typically there is a malcious motive involved where someone had it out for the coach not just the alleged victim. In law enforcement we have safeguards in place to absolutely avoid outcomes like this (initial interviews which are video/audio recorded numerous time for consistency, forensic interviews, medical examinations, polygraph for the alleged victim, witnesses, physical evidence, etc.).
This is clearly a case of malicious prosecution and abuse of process, and it unlike typical cases like the one you were involved in as a child, and is being examined very closely by the appropriate authorities.

Which only supports the notion that a schoolgirl crush that is refuted can lead to the vindictive nature of said teeny-boppers... I'm not saying this kind of perversion (by the coaches/PE Teachers) hasn't or doesn't happen in schools across the country... But it's also naive to think (as the above poster suggested) that it's not within a teenage girls' mental capacity to pull such a stunt.
Must have been a setup???

This is a possible case of false arrest, false imprisonment, abuse of process, and malicious prosecution.
His attorneys must first request a hearing to have the charge(s) dismissed with prejudice then he should pursue a lawsuit claiming violation of this civil/constitutional rights under both state and federal law. An action against the state will be limited to $350,000. In either case he will need to get past the qualified immunity protection which law enforcement and the prosecutor's have.
Recommend that he contact Mark Hardee's office in Columbia and pursue this possible civil law suit.
Ruining someone's reputation like this is deflamation of character, per se, and can be very costly for all those involved when they jump the gun and arrest just based on an accusation from a witness who lack credibility.
All prosecutors in South Carolina have an ethical obligation to present credible witnesses to a jury, and to do otherwise is a violation of their oath of office and grounds for lawyer conduct disciplinary action (SC Supreme Court Disciplinary Counsel for Lawyer Conduct).
Good comments. What is the address for the disciplinary counsel's office?

Don't know what your talking about. Many of these alleged victims know more about this kind of thing than the suspect. They could be from a family with chronic sexual abuse or involved in making similar false allegations against a prior suspect just to get out of trouble or to get what they want. This is not brain surgery we're talking about.

Last month Mike Nifong, former Durham, NC prosecutor, was placed back as a defendant on the multi-million dollar civil lawsuit filed by the duke lacrosse accused rapists who were later determined to be innocent by the NC Attorney General. Nifong earlier, after being disbarred for misconduct - contempt of court, etc, filed bankrupcy in the range of 180 million dollars - most all of this being from possible debt arising out of the civil lawsuits for his lawyer misconduct.

Hope this coach and his family seek out these civil defense attorneys and sues all those involved in this travesty of justice and rush to judgement.

These charges should have never been brought after conducting the forenic interview. This is nothing more than malicious prosecution.

I know this girl. It was all true. She felt guilty about it, called this Pedophile and asked how she could fix it. He told her exactly what to do. Recant in front of both attorneys. Which is what she did. He continued to see her for another almost 5 yrs. He is a piece of shit. He is married and has screwed this girls head up. If I ever come across this jerk off his ass is grass.
