Now what I am finding even more amusing is the fact that we, as blacks, can not even unite on a local level and expect ONE person to do it on a national level??? I mean for real, when are we, as blacks, going to stop blaming everybody and their momma for things that go wrong with US. Yes, I said us since I am black. WE need to unite on the home front, get OUR children out of these gangs and stop all of the senseless murders, assaults and roberries that WE commit against each other and others. Come on people let's wake up!!!!

Although you may have a point, do not overlook the reasons why these things happen in our communities? Do not be fooled or blinded by what you see. All of this stuff that is happening within our community are symptoms of years of abuse and neglect, injustice, inequality, oppression, suppression and depression.

Most of us were born into these "impoverished communities" and life has been like it is for years and years and years. Generation after generation, teachings, attitudes and behaviors passed down. A vicious cycle.

Remember, we werent even allowed to get an education, we would be whipped and hung if caught reading a book. The Constitution states that we are only 3/5 human. Words on a 250 years old document that was created and designed to establish the frame work that this country was to be built on. Living seperate and unequal from the rest of society because of the color of our skin. Forced to watch our children beat and raped, traumatized.

Dont forget your history, most white people would like us to forget and "get over it", but that history has kept us alive and has helped us survive in a society that has never been meant for us from the beginning.

Of course find your own path in life and do what is best for you and your family, but don't disregard the "reason's" why we are here, today in 2008. It would be nice to just forget it and move on. Except for even in 2008 we are still faced with some of the very struggles and injustice of 250 years ago. We are faced with the reality every day.

Elephants are near-sighted and can only see things near them (just as Republicans can only see things within USA borders). Elephants have big ears for a primary sense as a natural-gift (this is why Republicans need wire-tapping & ease-dropping programs -- to hear third-world country attacks from abroad, etc.); these programs give USA abilities to hear impending dangers before happening (against planned enemy attacks). Elephants can create a stampede to counteract danger (to stomp-out enemy attacks -- this is what has kept US safe thus far). Elephants are heavy weight champions for USA -- in order to nurture our offspring -- with USA military strength). Elephants hold-on tightly to their offspring, by curling their tails, hanging-on to babies trunks (just as Republicans want to do for future USA children). Elephants cool off with water by their trunks, to refresh themselves, these are is reflective moments (which is what enables Republicans to have calm, cool, collected attitudes). Elephants roll-around in mud to protect their skin from atmospheric elements (just as Republicans advocate military armor for USA safety, which is provided by our troops armor). Certain entities always try to strip Elephants of their ivory Tusks, which is what protects them for jabbing enemies (just as some want to strip USA military funding for our troops). Elephants get skinned for hardy leathers (symbolic of USA troop armor, as proposed reductions). Elephants are killed for their feet (sold as exotic table-stands), which symbolic of USA troop powers. Donkeys seem to have natural abilities to spat-out HEE HAWs (lacking class like Democrat jack a .. es). Donkeys love to jack-up their a .. es by directive-communication-attitu des which is poor for foreign relations (Democrats appear to lack nurturing for protecting USA). Donkey goals seem to be USA defense reductions (rather than ensuring future lives), making US more vulnerable to attacks from afar. Donkeys appear to want extinct offspring instead. Stopping the war, may seem right to Democrats (appealing to those who do not feel necessities to sacrifice their lives for our country). Current USA military death tolls are a complaint, but in a USA 2001 attack, thousands were killed and hundreds wounded; and today, are still slowly being killed by after-effects of ground-zero-air. If we do not vote Republican (elephants) to protect us, the Democrat (donkeys) will ensure the death of our future. Democrats play-up on desires to embrace DENIALS; Donkeys kick and jack-up their Hydes -- to mate with Horses -- causing Mule offspring. Mules cannot have babies, because breeding with Horses, cut-off future offspring seed.

History can't be erased. That's a no-brainer, but futures haven't been written -- and blacks are afforded every single right that whites are afforded (and in some cases like the UNCF, more). You said it yourself that you were born into impoverished communities generations and generations of the same thing... so my question to you is this... Which generation is finally going to stand up and do what has to be done within the communities? And don't say it's whitey holding every generation back, because even today's generation has done nothing to enact change within the community. Sweetnurse isn't saying to forget the civil rights struggles of your forefathers -- she's saying that it's time to stop the violence in the communitis, the BOB crimes, and other activites that are not influenced by white oppression and haven't been for generations.

I will be the first to agree with you that in the PAST, life for blacks was simply not fair, or right. Everything you mentioned from oppression to inhumane brutality was the plight of anyone black in this country. But to blame everything in the present or the future on the past is simply irresponsible. And to blame every white person from the past, present, or future is equally irresponsible.

The key to anyone's success ( regardless of race) is education and work ethics. I have been teaching for 18 years now, and I can't tell you how many black students I have seen slip through the cracks. If they have been denied education in the past, they are not in the present or the future. Shoot, there are more scholarships available to black students today, than there are for whites. But many deny the opportunities. Some black students that attempt to do well get teased by their peers, being called "Uncle Toms" or "sell-outs". Gangs and rap songs promote other lifestyles that are more acceptable among blacks.

I know some blacks that have overcome the peer pressure and are doing quite well in our society. You can't keep pointing out past events to explain " perceived oppression" of today. I for one, trying to make a difference as a teacher, refuse to accept the blame, nor the responsibility of blacks not taking advantage of opportunities they now have. I don't get jealous that they actually have more opportunities than I do, so be it. But I don't have pity for those blacks that don't take advantage of opportunity neither.

I have noticed some people who complain about everything on this forum, are on here night and day, almost everyday. And no, it is not because I am on here night and day, it says when the posts were made at the top of the post. I rarely get on here anymore. I have been extremely busy teaching and coaching and making time for my 3 year old. And summer school starts next week, so I will continue to be busy all summer. For those that are guilty and on here all day complaining, get out there and be responsible enough to make things change for yourself.

Yeah, maybe we have. But when do we quit leaning on that as an excuse and rise above it??? Poverty, girl I am from poverty and so did my husband. Oldest brother on crack and every other drug he can get his hands on, oldest sister had not one, but two children before she graduated from high school. Yes, I know poverty, I came from one of the poorest school districts in the state.

But guess what my husband and I did. We got tired of living like that. Went to colleg, got an education, bought a few houses (real-estate investments) and now we live just fine. The rest of my sisters and brothers went to college, own homes have good careers (note that I didn't say job, there is a difference), so what does our past have to do with the way we live? A lot. We refused to allow another generation in our family to live check to check and have a poor quality education. The cycle has to stop somewhere, so if someone is in a bad situation, they can get out.

Yes, there was a time when we as blacks could not get an education, but that is no longer the case. Instead, our girls choose to define who they are on their back instead of embracing the fact that they are a diamond and not a CZ. Our young men choose to sell drugs and walk around with the pants hanging of their behinds and like correct English is a foreign language that they did not take in school. Please stop blaming society, and tell some young person you know how to not continue the vicious cycle. I do it every day and if only ONE child hears me and decides to change what is happening in his/her life, then I have succeeded.

And as far as the 3/4 person deal is, my bible tells me I am 100% who I am, you believe what you choose.

PORTLAND, Ore.-- Portland police officers have asked for an apology after they said organizers of a Barack Obama rally set up Porta-Potties on a memorial honoring fallen officers.

Earlier this month, 75,000 people gathered in Waterfront Park in downtown Portland to hear Obama speak at a pre-primary rally.

View The Photo From The Rally | Watch FOX 12 Report

Officer Thomas Brennan, a seven-year veteran with the Portland Police Bureau, said he was happy to help at the rally after being called in on his day off.

"On short notice, a lot of people had to cancel trips. But they were glad to do it," Brennan said. "It was very memorable, in more ways than one."

Brennan, who controlled the crowd near the Portland Police Memorial, noticed several Porta Potties set up in the middle of the memorial. Brennan had been at the site five days earlier for an annual memorial service and a flag was still set at half mast on the day of the rally.

"There was plenty of room elsewhere so space wasn't an issue," Brennan said. "So someone used some really poor decision making, whoever elected to put them there. I mean, it's somewhat hallowed ground, I guess you could call it."

After several days, Brennan attached a photo he took to a letter and e-mailed it to dozens of media outlets and the Obama campaign.

Brennan said officers haven't heard back from the Obama campaign. He said someone owes an apology to the families of the fallen officers.

"Not for a moment do I think that Mr. Obama had anything to do with this," Brennan said. "But somebody at his campaign at a local level made the decision to put them there. And I just want an acknowledgement:'Hey, we made a mistake.'"

A representative with the Obama campaign responded Wednesday morning and said the Porta-Potties were placed at the memorial because of a safety issue for wheelchair access.

Teri Sorenson said there was no disrespect intended and the campaign had not responded because local offices have shut down until Obama becomes the official democratic candidate.

What about the Obama's church link to the Nation of Islam? What about the rhetoric of his church pastor Rev Wright, and his ties to Louis Farrakhan? What about the outright lies that he doesn't know what is going on in his own church? Sen. Obama is also an Iranian sympathizer. He is calling for a dialog with Iran to solve the crisis. Will he play right into their terrorist way and support them while they prepare to nuke Israel? Obama will not beleive the threat is real until 50 million people are killed in a world war. God has a plan for Iran, like every other people that tried to wipe Israel out. God will protect his chosen people. Iran will be yet another supposed mighty country to fall due to their evil ways. I say GD Iran and Obama!!!

Washington is laid to waste. The Capitol is a blackened, smoking ruin. The White House has been razed. Countless thousands are dead.

This is the apocalyptic scene terrorists hope to create if they ever get their hands on a nuclear bomb.

The computer-generated image below was posted on an Islamic extremists' website yesterday.

This computer generated image posted on terror forums depict what would happen if a nuclear attack took place in Washington D.C

It appeared as rumours swept the Internet that the FBI was warning that an Al Qaeda video was about to be released urging militants to use weapons of mass destruction to attack the West.

The information was said to be coming from 'groups that monitor Islamic militant websites'.

The FBI was quick to point out that it had not issued any warning and that the video was not an official Al Qaeda release through its media arm, Al Sahab, but simply an ' amateur' collection of old footage spliced together and posted on the Internet.

U.S. analysts said a lot of effort had been put into the video - entitled Nuclear Jihad, The Ultimate Terror - with graphics, music, and clips of different leaders and groups.

The same expertise seems to have gone into creating this image of a devastated Washington.

Al Sahab puts out more than 80 'officially sanctioned' videos a year to keep up the propaganda on the West. And the Internet shows how easy it is to stir up militancy. One message with the Washington picture said:'The next strike's in the heart of America. When? When? When? And How?'

Last night FBI sources said Al Qaeda was desperate to get its hands on a weapon of mass destruction, be it nuclear, chemical, or biological.

So far that is only a dream... or, as this picture suggests, a nightmare.
