For Heaven's Sake, what in this world does one need to walk around Sam's Club with a weapon???
Ask a criminal.

Is she employed by a law enforcement agency?
Does she need to be?

Having a permit to carry a concealed weapon does not make the situation correct.
How's that?
Dee wrote:
I resent the very idea that we are all in danger when a permit is issued to an unskilled and unlicensed individual.
Are you really this ignorant? Do you really think they just hand those out to anybody?
Dee wrote:
Why does she need a concealed weapon?
It's called the Bill Of Rights, not the Bill Of Needs.
Dee wrote:
This permit to carry a concealed weapon has gotten completely out of control.
Really? Can you post a cite with specific data that procves your assertion?? We'll wait. Can do???
Dee wrote:
I do not believe that it was written into law for all who feel the need to become a character from the Wild, Wild West. This is truly a shame and a disgrace, not to mention the danger.
So you also buy into the Wild West Myth too. That figures.

Whenever I'm in Sam's, I'm usally trying out the free samples, talking to somebody even though I don't know them or checking out the women walking around in short shorts! You don't need a gun...especially loaded...in Sam's. If you're that scared about the general public...stay home!
Sounds like something a bottom feeder at Sam's would say.

. A concealed weapons license does not give you the right to carry the firearm in a store. Just read the signs on the doors of the stores you enter.
Actually it DOES give you the right to carry into a store UNLESS it is otherwise posted that you can't.

Dang, this is almost unbelievable. I don't care if you got a permit for that gun or not, there is no excuse for keeping a loaded gun right next to a baby. She should be charged with negligence or child abuse or something.

Reason 1543 not to have concealed carry weapons permit! But at least she was carrying the gun that may end her grandaughter's life legally.
Really? Where are the other 1542 reasons or are they as fake as your post?

INSANE.
So which is it 1543 or 1435?
And beside, who are YOU to tell others what they can or cannot do?

<quoted text>My theory of thought is that some of the people carrying guns are as unthoughtful as drunk drivers and can't be trusted.
Okay. Just so we're clear, that is your "theory of thought" and not anything based on fact.
Dee wrote:
I know that if I were going to be out in a questionable area alone, I would probably think of a weapon...I just make sure that I travel in areas less targeted for trouble. If you are in danger all the time, you should certainly get law enforcement to handle such situations.
Do you know that law enforcement is not constitutionally bound to protect us?
Dee wrote:
I remain with the belief that people who carry weapons are putting all of us in danger of a misguided bullet.
Really? And do we have as many people killed with guns as those killed by irresponsible automobile drivers? Or don't those deaths matter?

Gun owners are not the brightest species on the planet.
We are smarter than the criminals who try to rob us and/or harm us because we are one step ahead of them. The people who are anti-gun must have their head in the sand. Do you really think that by making a law against firearms that crime will be reduced? No way! The criminals....and there are PLENTY of them....will have free range because police can't be everywhere at all times. I promise you if one of these losers broke into my house, they would never commit a crime ever again....I would make sure of that.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the grandmother. I know the family and the grandmother. I can't imagine the heartache they are all having to bear right now. This is such a tragic event. I am asking everyone to keep this young family in your prayers.

Donna is one of the best grandmothers I know. Accidents happen. It is a shame that so many people are responding by making stupid comments about her. As an officer of the court, she would be crazy not to carry a gun. She would give her life for her grandchildren.
Pray for her and her family. They are truly a wonderful family. If you only knew.

It's sad that we live in a society where violent criminals are given the "revolving door" treatment only to return to the streets where they can prey on innocent victims. Or as you would prefer UNARMED innocent victims.

Why was this grandmother carrying a loaded gun in a crowded public situation? Does she and do all the other who advocate carrying guns have any real competence with firearms?
This happens far too often to justify allowing everyone to carry guns. Vice President Cheney shot a friend on a hunting trip. Other than the weirdness of its being a grand mother and grand daughter these kinds of incidents should make us rethink our gun laws.
This is a very sad situation, but a common one. Carrying a gun is more of a danger than a protection for the average citizen. It is more frequent that their families and friends are injured than the off chance that it will offer any protection. Cheney nearly killed a friend on a hunting trip. If the child had not shot herself, she may have hit an an innocent bystander in the store.
Time to recognize that guns do kill people.
And what would you say to the armed robber, rapist, murderer about their gun if you were confronted by one?
