I bought a new Honda Accord V-6 back in March. The new car sticker said 29 mpg on the highway, 19 in the city. I will check the mpg after my first oil change. Hope it's correct.

We are truely being taking advantage of from our government and the oil companies. OPEC announced the other day that oil shouldn't be anymore than about 60 dollars a barrel and they felt the prices were being driven up by fear tactics from the oil companies themselves.. If this keeps up im gonna have to trade my two lug nuts for a tank of gas..lol..

Crude oil was $28.00 a barrel in 2003 before we attacked Iraq. India, China, and the others were already using a lot of oil and prices were still FLAT. look it up. Attacking Iraq, a major oil producer scared up prices, and when KATRINA hit the gulf coast the oil companies made record profits because of fear of gas shortages which never were. the prices dropped in south carolina back to around $2.00 per gallon for a short time after KATRINA then the oil profiteers figured that fear of a oil shortage for any reason caused prices to soar. Even if we don't get a KATRINA every year, talking about Attacking IRAN another major oil producer will help gas get to $5.00 per gallon fast. If you want war with a major producing country stop crying about gas prices. If we get a major storm in the gulf this year what do you think will happen to the price of gas in the U.S.?

Every time I read one of these "Oil" threads I see the same morons puking up the same nonsense.

"Bush & his oil buddies"
"War for oil"
"Execs profiteering..."

It demonstrates such a deeply profound ignorance of the energy industry and of economics in general that I weep for America. No doubt, products of the current public school system.

Pay attention IDIOTS!

1. Our ENTIRE economy is based on petroleum. There are NO sectors of the economy that are not dependent on it. As it stands right now - No Oil, No Economy. This is a fact.

2. We are almost entirely dependent on importing foreign oil to keep our economy alive. Fact.

3. America is sitting on massive oil reserves. Shale oil in the west, Alaska, Gulf Coast, among others. We are currently prevented, by our own law, from even exploring these resources, much less utilizing them. OUR OWN LAWS PREVENT US FROM USING OUR OWN RESOURCES. This is a fact.

4. China and India are exponentially increasing their energy use. China is currently building oil platforms off the U.S. coast. These platforms will be capable of slant drilling INTO U.S. oil fields. This oil will be going to China, not to the U.S.

5. The U.S. is doing NOTHING to increase its oil production. Nothing.

6. Flat production + increased demand = higher prices. Happens EVERY time.

7. All of the above being true, we have NO CHOICE but to remain deeply involved in the Middle East to protect the oil that we DESPERATELY need to maintain our economy.(Again, we refuse to produce our own. We seem more interested in "protecting" caribou, polar bears, and dung beetles than preserving the well being of this nation.)

8 Oil Execs' salaries have NOTHING to do with oil prices. Oil prices are controlled by supply, demand, and investment speculators.

Until we begin using our own resources, we are the slaves of sheiks, and oil rich tyrants, and we will pay whatever they tell us to. And so will you.

Wake up sheep!

1. Drill domestically
2. Build more refineries (have not built once since the mid 1970's)
3. Build more nuclear power plants (most green-friendly power source there is tree huggers)

We can't change to alt fuel over night. It is currently too expensive (hydro car just debuted at $1,000,000 and it is inefficient)

Congress can't tell OPEC to drill more when America can do the same thing and cause a price war with OPEC.

Your #3 response is right on the money. Saw an independent investigative report that there is enough oil in the mid-west to sustain us for 200 years. If not mistaken it was in the state of Idaho alone.

And what are we going to do after those 200 years has expired. Are we going to work toward other energy solutions to become less dependant on oil.

Alot of people don't realize it, but oil has it's purpose for being within the earth. By removing it from it's proper purpose causes climate changes etc?, Hmmmmm.

As I read this... I am wondering who really is the IDIOT... has it ever occur to you that the reason people do not post the same anger you just did is because what you just said is OLD NEWS, and we didn't feel the need to waste our "energy" to repeat what we already know?

Wow, you are a real light bulb...glad you finally decided to pick up the Wall Street Journal and read it. Geeeez.

Here you go again. Attacking someone who has done nothing to you except post a well thought out and well written opinion of what we can do about lowering oil prices. The poster of that is way more intelligent and nice and than you will ever be.

You're a loser Justlice. Always have been , always will be. You sit on your little computer stool masturbating to yourself attacking those who are your betters. You're just a sick pathetic pervert. Why don't you just go kill yourself and make this world a better place. No likes you. No one wants you around. Please die.
