I bet they were all preachy and he was tired of listening to them spew crap about god. Just like some of the people posting here, "God Bless.".'God' being forced down this kid's throat is probably what killed his parents. Not everyone is cut out to believe the cute little story of the bible. Its like believing in the Easter Bunny until you die. You are the ones to bring change in your life, not some invisible man. Grow up people. Seriously, this tooth fairy of yours is not real. I could go out and beat an old lady and would he stop me? No, no matter how much the lady cried or asked him. No one cares about you but your friends and family. Praise them, not some ancient excuse for a faith.

<quoted text>Why would you blame something like this on "schools"? Television, video games, mental illness, friends, acquaintences, fit of rage or passion, OK, but schools. I don't follow that logic.
Let's not leave out the home environment. This 16-year-old killed his mother and tried to kill his father. Who knows WHAT goes on in a person's brain. He may have had "good" parents who were involved in his life, maybe not. Nonetheless, something snapped in this young man.
Note the "or whatever" in the original comments people today blame all kinds of things in our society in trying to explain why kids do these crazy things. My point is that parents who own guns and have kids in the house should keep them locked up. We need to deal with these problems but how about staying alive to do it. It's too late to start dealing with little Johnny's problems when you're looking down the barrel of your own gun. Parents need to be aware of the symptonms and deal with the problems. I have a 33 yr old son and a 20 yr old daughter and the difference between the two amazes me. One is a well educated, successul parent and business man, the other is a nut job, who thinks God is Santa Claus, but I get to write the checks and everyday is Christmas.

Your opinion, your ignorance (in my opinion) and you can keep it. If everyone thought as you and believed that there would be no consequences brought on by riotous living, just think what the world would be like........A bunch of ignorance, as if enough does not already exist. You've voiced your opinion and disbelief.....I've voiced my opinion and belief. I have taken Western civ and studied religion and it's origin quite thoroughly in college.......and it does not change who or what I believe it........Just was an easy "A" so I don't need to look into anything. And all though you don't believe in prayer or blessings.......I PRAY YOU HAVE A BLESSED DAY, anyway.........

90% of what you believe about God & Christ is a result of an evolving story that attempts to brainwash and control you. Most of what you think of as your religion is a direct result of John Nelson Darby's ideas of what the bible is delivering. Before that you had a governmentally manipulated story attempting to, 1st control the pagans of the era, and once that wasn't obtainable the blended the "christ" faith with the pegan beliefs.(look up the origins of most of your religious holidays).
In the end, if you do your research God is in fact the sun. Yes the big yellow ball in the sky. Only mans ego could manipulate such a basic truth and make God in his own image. Give "him" magic and awareness.
God isn't capable of either making this young man kill his parents no is he capable of helping those who are left to cope with this family & community loss. All God can do is keep coming up in the morning and rotate across the sky.
I'll have to agree with the theory that:
"Or maybe that kid got sick of living with the f'n Flanders and lost it after realizing that religion and all their nonsensical bible-thumping BS is a big fat lie".

By the way George, where did you get your stats from that tells you 90% of what "I" believe came from an evolving story??? Could it be that YOUR higher being told you this??? I don't think so..........Please don't ever try to psycho-analyze me,,,,,,,,,,you are so ill-equipped.

Right, well I guess we all came from monkeys then. I'm not religious by the way. Religion most of the time gets shoved down peoples throat with their holier than though bull crap. I'm Christian or at least I try to be. But I do believe in God and there is no shame in that. If you dont than that is fine. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs but I would not make fun of them for what they beleive in. That's where you are wrong for doing, regardless of how you fell about God or what you believe.

I like what you said. It takes strength and character to stand up for your beliefs especially when others want to tear them down just because they don't have any respect for anything. So many people like to tear Christianity down when it is not the religion that is bad, it is the few overzealous hypocrites that are. And if you're(generally speaking) not a Christian, oh well, more power to you.

I think there is a bigger issue here than a crazy kid. In this day and age, why is there STILL no law that protects children from being used for free household slaves by their parents?

A child's responsibility should be just to clean up after himself and do his best in school. That's it. Children do not owe any forced "contribution" to the family unit. They, unlike their parents, have done nothing to obligate themselves.

In the past, children have been put in the world just to be worked on the farm! They were sent out to factories to make a living for their parents! Now, there is still the belief that the kids can just be used like cattle to clean the house or work on the farm.

THIS SHOULD BE A PART OF OUR PAST JUST LIKE WIFE BEATING AND SLAVERY OF BLACK PEOPLE!!

Laws should have been in place so this child could have gone to child protective services to force his parents to stop dumping their work onto him. There should be laws to protect children from being used for FREE FORCED LABOR by their parents!

My parents did the same thing to me and today I HATE them. I am almost 60 years old and I still hate them for it. I didn't kill them, but I wish I had.

As for all the arguments that the slavery "teaches the kid responsibility", or in some way helps him that is a LOAD and every parent who says that knows it in the back of his or her mind. The purpose of "chores" is to allow the irresponsible parent to get out of his/her work by forcing it onto his/her children.

If this kid had some kind of legal protection from slavery by his parents, this may not have happened.
