High-end grocer joining market

Decadent desserts gleam from behind counters encased in wood and metal: chocolate mousse cake covered in chocolate shavings, tarts with marshmallows on top, coconut tiramisu.

Losing Harris Teeter was one of the hardest parts about moving from Arlington, VA to Baltimore. Please come to Canton! We need you, HT!

I can understand why you're bitter- considering that College Park's only choices are shopping at the Shoppers Food Warehouse on Route 1 or the other SFW on University Blvd in Adelphi. It s*cks to be you.

Pardon me if I sound a little frugal, but with the ever increasing costs of gas, housing, etc., do we really need a HIGH END grocery store? Puhleez, give me a financial break! Give me good, CHEAP food any day!

Let's face it over the past 10 years the rich have gotten much richer while things have gotten much harder for the rest of us. Hard to believe someone like Robin Hood would be seen as a misguided liberal.
I'm glad that this place is coming to the city. I'd love to see Baltimore known as a high end kinda place.

The Delaware location is not in Rehoboth, it's in Selbyville, just before Fenwick. No struggle at all - the place is booming!

Well, when the location was picked back in 2006 (or probably earlier since these things take time), I don't think people expected the economy to be like it is today.

There was a nice little Safeway there until June 06, and up until recently was still listed on the Safeway website!

Anyway, considering the area, it will probably do well. Trader Joe's recently moved in a few miles away (well, by 108, I think).

Fiddle while Rome burns you pretentious metrosexual!
Baltimore is metrosexual? That's news to me. Why don't you attack the other commenter who disparaged Fort Ave SFW as "ghetto"- wouldn't you consider him pretentious as well? If you've ever spent thirty minutes in the checkout line at the Canton Safeway, you would know that Baltimore desperately needs better quality grocery stores.

Harris-Teeter is an upscale store but the prices are no higher than Giant or Safeway on the same items. However, they carry a lot of pricey items.

I agree... all the highend grocery will do is give
reason for the reasonably price grocers to raise
their prices!!

Enough of that upscale garbage. I heard that Harris Teeter doubles coupons up to $ 0.99. That's what I'm talking about.

You disparaged College Park (where I do not reside).

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones dude.

Agreed. Plus, who is going to have the money to spend for this stuff anyway?

I hope the curbside pickup is web-capable as well. That would be a great way to save time.

What's with the class warfare? Seems like people in Bmore want to keep the place slummy. I'd rather have pretentious gel-heads than gang-bangers, any day of the week.

Shoppers ain't bad, tho. At least they cleaned up the place a bit when they took it over. And they do have a little healthy/organic/ethnic section with some nice stuff I used to only be able to get at Whole Foods.
