i agree completely with part of that, i've seen women get a large (long past due) amount and go buy flat screen tv's, computers and other things (although the computer i don't mind...that is something my kids use all the time to help with homework) but when you only get child support a few times a year(usually only when the threat of jail is involved) i wouldn't think badly of any parent that splurges a little bit on non necessities like toys, games, clothes or eating out together. that $50-100 or so every now and again other than holiday's isn't going to break you that bad when you end up sick, hurt or any other reason that keeps you from being able to go to work..as long as you are smart with your money a few splurges here and there is fine
sounds like you spend your child support on things for your self thats why people don't want to pay it

where in my statement did it ever sound like i spend the money on me? on the rare occasion i get child support it goes to everything it needs to go to. we don't have anything new and great...except maybe get them a new outfit or a video game sometimes and there is NOTHING wrong with that.

I think the one who receives child support should show receipts for how the money is spent.

some of you people don't know how the court breaks down the use of child support, they figure so much for living expenses (rent, utilities) yes that is figured with child support, the child shares the home as well as the adult, clothes, shoes, food, school supplies, haircuts, and insurance, if the one that is getting the support pays the insurance, also someone has to pay for Dr and Dental and medication because most insurance has a co-pay, any school activities or movies, video games all that has to be paid by someone, so as you can see it is not a money making scheme going on here by anyone if these needs are met.

I agree that the one receiving the support should show how they are spending the money. I know of one mother who does not work and I always see her in nice outfits while her kids wear the same old clothes.

It doesn't matter how much money the parent w/child(ren) has, it is the absent parents responsibility to pay child support! It's the LAW!

It's a parents obligation to do right by our children.

I do think its alot of BS when you have your child 50% of the time child support is still enforced even when dr bills and etc is split

part of it as in what? I buy what my child needs at my home and see it is taken care of, why cant the other parent do the same? I pay the medical insurance on the child. Like in your previous post its the absent parents responsibility to pay support, I agree but no one is absent when the child is split 50%.

an absent parent doesn't mean your not a part of your childs life, it just means you don't live in the same home as your child, i didn't mean for it to sound that way, sorry.
what we as parents think and what the law say's is 2 different things and i get what your saying about splitting 50%. some ap's don't even buy clothes for their child, they think since they pay child support thats all they have to do, but thats not the case here.

I agree, if a child spends 50/50 with each parent, then the parents should be equal, each should do their part, and no support money going to either party.

GOD, lady why are you letting this man off the hook so easy? It took two of you to make the baby, it should
take to of you to support it.

the child is only 6 months old...she will change her tune when the baby turns into a child...i used to be very lenient with child support, then i realized WHY???? why am i struggling with the rent, utilities, daycare, food, clothes, school...good grief the list goes on and on...there is no reason to struggle like that and let him off the hook, if he doesn't see the child fine, that's his problem and he'll regret it later...there is no heartache in going to the child support office, if the case is that the father doesn't see the child you'll never have contact...just some help with all the necessities that come with raising children

Under Ky law minor children are entitled to financial support from both parents. Look it up. So, therefore you are shortchanging your child by not seeking support from his father.
