Was that job ever posted? I would think that some of the people that were currently in housekeeping would have been interested in that position. If it is considered a promotion, it would be nice to offer it to employees before someone new.
She WAS already an employee. She has worked there for several years, in another dept. not suddenly hired, when Ann Melton got her position.
This a fact, just ask.

The problems at dear old Westlake did not start when Ann's daughter was hired for a new position. Housekeeping is not the main issue there. In fact a RAISE is not the issue.
There needs to be a SERIOUS look at the management skills of "the powers that be". The board needs to start at the top and clean house. The REASON good nurses AND physicians come and go is because anyone who has questions or complaints, concerning changes that NEED to be made, is immediately treated as an outcast and treated and talked to so poorly that they leave.
Many excellent nurses AND physicians have left the Westlake group because of this problem and this will continue to happen as long as the board allows the tyranny to continue.

Why not a new board? Who makes that decision? I think we need a breath of fresh air in our local hospital before we try to grow. What yall are funny stated is very true and it is time we become health and cost efficent first with some NEW faces and ideas.

The day Westlake Cumberland gets a new board that are independent, cows will fly. No matter how good a board member is, they know not the cross the line and go against WLRH. The judge executive also knows who to appoint that will be a puppet to whomever. That doesn't make it right but the fact is, that's just the way it is in small town Columbia, Kentucky. It's called small town politics - you rub my back and I'll rub yours.

Clinton did that when he sent our jobs to Mexico not the unions... Now the mexicans are taking our jobs in the U.S.
Looks like a lot more jobs have gone to China than anywhere else. We started giving tax breaks to companies to move to China 30 years ago. It finally caught up to us and we have no Mfg jobs.s The executives spent GM into a horrible hole with their excesses on every thing.

This was a created position to give someone a cushy job or rather a paycheck as department head with nothing to do. They call this a political favor for the Judge. Back to the ill scratch yours and you scratch mine.

Not really. No college ed, no friends with connections, no reason to expect a load of dough, or a slab of pie.
With most hospitals that I have read about, an awful lot of the money goes to the way overpaid higher ups. The people who are out there actually working in there are paid near nothing. Doesn't seem right. There are alot of places that way. I know several with "degrees" which to me are in some cases worthless, but let's give them a few more thousand per year. Don't have to work for it. From what I understand, Westlake and Russell Hosp. pay less than most other places to their workers and charge a fortune.

i would hope that the people that have been there for a long time would be given a private meeting and discuss the hospital situation with them. they deserve more than just up and losing a job if the hospital closes. to just leave them out to dry is dirty and wrong, wrong, wrong. and i do think the discusion should be private one on one. thats whats part of the problem is that staff have never been permitted to go to the higher administration. they were the unreachable, dont bother them if you want to keep your job...all so very wrong... is this how they are going to repay the people that stayed and worked and forfeited part of their hourly earnings at one time, how they kept loyal and stayed positive to the public.. they deserve more.. to walk off and leave them hanging doesnt speak much of their character now does it.

Hey if you don't like Westlake don't go there. But I can tell you those of us who have needed it appreciate the hell out of it. So take your whinny ass somewhere else.
