Have those RESTRICTIONS been changed?
I’d love to read a link to the RESTRICTIONS and any changes made to the RESTRICTIONS.
I’m far too lazy & busy to pursue open records that would have the RESTRICTIONS for the Industrial Park. Could someone be so kind to find and post the information?
you can go to sue Stivers office and request it.

i think not only should they ban the stupid chicken feed plant ,..
they should ban ALL l businesses in the county ,...
decent and good people should not have to get up early in the morning and go to work ,.
it is inhumane ,...
and the various shops and businesses pollute and waste valuable energy --
think of the impact on the environment you people !
and the gross waste of gasoline when people commute to 'work'-
seriously people ,..
we all need to rethink every thing about our wastefully decadent American life style
and finally truly go GREEN !

Cobb vantress and Tyson foods have been in more lawsuits than most companies and have paid out millions . It's a shame the city would even consider a eye sore like the chicken industry . If so many other communities are wanting them then why would they even have to pay for the land. Most development boards would just give it to them to build to bring jobs. I would say they are not as welcome as they let on. Stand up before it's too late and do the smart thing city officials / close the door on this deal and get something worth having but it comes back to bite you in years to come.

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL)- Three women testified against former Mount Carmel Vice-Mayor William Blakely, graphically recounting times he exposed himself while driving. News Channel 11 had the only reporter in court for Thursday's preliminary hearing in Kingsport.

"I was scared that I was gonna wreck, he was gonna cause me to wreck," witness Deborah Sturgill said.

"It seems that every victim would tell the same story. But I knew all the victims did not know each other," Kingsport Police Detective Terry Christian said.

Personal accounts in Thursday's testimonies started the same - Blakely allegedly waving to get the drivers' attention, then escalating to honking and partially crossing over into the drivers lane.

"Waving, grabbed his shirt, kind of pulled it up," witness Deanna Dykes said.

"After the waving, it turned into a lot of beeping, him grabbing his chest area, and asking me going 'please, please'(clasping hands together) with his hands, may I... show me yours," witness Kelly Street said.

Each witness testified they were fearful Blakely's driving would cause an accident.

"He was taking his hand, wetting his mouth, and masturbating," Sturgill said.

"At over 90 miles per hour, he had his penis out [the window]... he was masturbating... and that's when it got really, really bad. I wouldn't look over any more, and I wrote his tag number down on my hand, which I believe he noticed, and he exited very quickly," Street said.

Well, they wouldn't have been able to hire enough people to work there because there wouldn't have been enough people in Columbia to pass a drug test. Remember when WalMart was opening up? They had to bring in people from Somerset because of all the failed drug tests. You people cry there are no jobs, but you don't want nothing in your back yard. Idiots.

Shoul putting your health and ruining green river lake with all their pollution be worth 17 jobs? how ignorant or desperate can people be? breathing fresh unpolluted air and having a safer environment means more to me than that, some of you people are out of touch with the world, and care less about your health and your families, some people like yourself are always putting the county down about drugs, evidently you don't watch newscast or do much reading or traveling, drugs are all over the nation, not just here, everywhere, sometimes if you don't know what your talking about, best to be quiet.

No it ain't worth 17 jobs. But nobody's thinking of the after effects of it coming. The few that have questioned it have been treated terrible for even asking questions.

Who is really out of touch here? How clean are our waterways and air with all the farming around here? Fertilizers, chemicals, spraying, etc, etc, etc. I have been all over the US, and our county is a cesspool of drug abuse, huge for such a small community. I have every right to voice my opinion as do you. Telling people to be quiet is showing your ignorance.

There is no need to add to the pollution that already plagues this areas land and water. If you feel as I do, that this area is filthy enough, then please do your part to clean it up. Also teach your offspring that it is not ok to throw trash out along the roads. We really don’t need another generation of ignorant litterbugs in this town.

If people want industry (jobs) brought in, there will always be pollution to some extent. I don't like pollution either, but it's everywhere there is industry. Columbia will have to decide if we want to go on not having any REAL jobs here, thus adding to the dependence of government assistance. Where a large number of people have to commute to other counties to have a decent job with a good wage. Where those people, myself included, do their banking and shopping in the county where they work. Or, I guess we can always go on and build a few more pharmacys, since that is the big demand here.

Maybe some people are just too embarassed to have a "chicken plant" in their county? C'mon, admit it.

There is a bigger picture to be looked at.
