If any of Leo's friends or acquaintances would like to meet up and share some memories of him with me when I return to Columbia for the trial, please let me know by contacting me directly at andrade13@gmail.com.
There has been another delay in the start of the trial and we should hopefully know in a couple of months of a new start date. In the meantime, his killer is out on bail walking the streets. I can only hope justice is served someday. Thank you, Albert |

I do not know this case nor your brother, just want to say I hope everything turns out for the best. Have read other topics on this and I do not understand how someone can pled insane and walk the streets. If one is that insane that they take anothers life then get them of the streets, they need to be locked away somewhere, who knows when they might go off again? Sorry just venting. Again, hope everything turns out for the best and God Bless You and Yours. Hope you find someone to share pictures and memories with, I know this sometimes helps. Best of luck.

Where did you get the info that she was pleading insane?

I believe Laurie turned down a plea bargain where she would be looking at 2 years min. in a state prison. She must not think she deserves to spend any additional time behind bars for shooting my brother, who wasn't armed at the time of his death. I also don't think she is pleading insanity, but rather self defense/batter wife syndrome. The trial is set for Jan. 6, 2010. Unless there is another delay.
Based on some physical evidence and information that I have learned through Leo' friends in Columbia, he was planning on leaving her very soon. Maybe that's what caused her to do what she did to him. How I wish I could have been there to protect my big brother from her. I hate the fact that a gun that he had around for their protection was the very weapon she used to kill him. He's free now... |

Your brother was a good man. I knew him since I was a child about 9 or 10 yrs old and he always treated me with respect. I never heard a bad word from that man.I too hope justice is served. You dont see many people that have killed someone walking the streets especially with the bond she was released on. I will remember you and your family in my prayers.

I think her attorney was the Grant lady that died after being struck by a truck.
At least I know she was when she was first arrested because she interview me about Lori, which I can was wasn't favorable for lori's defense. I'm sure the trial will get delayed at least six months if she needs new council. |

The lady that died was not an attorney--

I don't believe the battered wife syndrome excuse in this case. For one, Laurie never once told me or anyone else in my family that my brother was abusing her, either physically or mentally. If he was harming her, wouldn't you think she would reach out to someone like Leo's family for help? Not once over a span of 15 plus years they were together did she say help me Albert. And all this talk by unknown posters on Topix saying my brother never took her where she needed to go is hardly an excuse for shooting Leo. As far as I know my brother was a hard worker who held down whatever job he could find and the only one with a job in that household who paid the bills that kept them warm and fed.

There is a hell of a lot you don't know about your brother.

1 Leo was a strange fellow. He was so intelligent in some ways. He could have been a very rich man if he was not such a idiot. There was almost nothing the man did not know and if he stayed sober enough he could have been anything he wanted to be. It is a damn shame that someone so intelligent could be so stupid. As far as the woman in question she is just like him. Two wasted lives. So sad. |

Loris full of shit if, Leo did beat her, then he should of done it more often. Those of you believe she was beat are damned idiots

I saw Leo and Lori at IGA a week before his death. They were all smiles when I talked to him. There was also Brad Scoll in the store in uniform. I she was in danger why didn't she say something to the police? She had ample time and opportunity. Battered wife syndrome in this case is just away to get away with MURDER.

What is the exact date of the trial?
|
||||

Did it ever occur to you brain dead rednecks that if the state had any evidence that she was guilty of murder that she would have been charged with murder?

It looks like Jan. 6th is the start date for the trial. I'll be there along with my brother and father. I'm looking forward to seeing those that have contacted me. How cold is it usually in Columbia around January time? I'm expecting it to be freezing cold most days.

it was sad all the cats he had in that trailer. when you went to thier door you could smell the cat pee. no stove to cook on. a cat pin built where they should have had a living room. did you see the way your brother chose to live? she never had food to eat. also if she would have there was no stove to cook on. i hate that you brohter is dead but you need to look a both sides. if a woman puts with somwthing so long she has a braking point. it is the same for the man. there was a way they both could have gotten out of the marrige if they both wanted it. a marriage is a two way street not one. she had her wrongs in things but so did he. he wanted all those cats. you dont know what went on behide close doors. just like nobody know what goes on behind your close doors. i see both sides. no she should not have done what she did but maybe she seen no why out. get on the enternet and read about abuse to spouses. you do thing you would nomally would not do. but the man or the woman fill they have no why out. they both had a lot of issuses. not just her but him to.sorry about your lose. but you were in cal. and didnt know everything that went on. nobody does but her and him. |

1 Leo was a wonderful man, a loyal friend and I miss seeing him!! If she was hungry or abused she could've gotten OUT. Leo has told us more than one story about her! At one time she lived in the housing project; she was away from him. Why didn't she keep it that way? Whatever he did or did NOT do; it gave this nut NO excuse for MURDER!! |
