On hwy 1952 there is an old house setting back in the field were a jealous husband beat his wifes head in with a claw hammer. The burnt the hammer and the hair and brains still on it and the hammer wouldn't burn, and there is still blood on the wall.
I've been to a place in Russell County called devil's gallow and there was supposidly a cult down there in the 60's and it is creepy.
Where in RC is devils gallow?

I have been to the Petty Place and sometimes strange things did happen there. Sadly, I heard that place burned down about 2 months ago. There is suppose to be a cemetary around it that is suppose to be haunted and I heard a girl named Mary walks down the road at night, but I don't know much about those. It is on the other end of Melsons Creek Rd. and you have to turn down a gravel road. I remember there was oil rigs we have to pass to get to the house and I know that it a a bumpy but creepy ride.
Yes it did burn.I went there.... a few days ago. They filmed Resurection Mary there in 2002....But i did'nt see the cemetary.Where is it?

I've been to the petty house one year on Halloween. It was a big, creepy house..in a nursery there was blood on the walls.. i kept expecting something to happen but nothing ever did..i was wanting for it to though...i always thought i'd go back, but i never got a chance. I also heard it burnt.
one night me and a cousin were on our way back from Campbellsville on 55, and decided to go through tebbs bend...we stopped on the old bridge, turned the car off and sat there for a few minutes. then there was a cool breeze that came through the car...it gave me chills, needless to say, we left.I kinda wished we woulda stayed go see if we could have seen something.
I would have LOVED to visted it before it burnt....Sounds interesting.

I heard one about the house by the cemetary in Cane Valley. Supposedly, a girl got killed on prom night. Years later, a guy came along and picked up a girl on his motorcycle in the pouring rain on that road. She had a prom dress and was soaked. He gave her his jacket. He took her home and left as she walked to the house. He went back the next day to get his jacket and the girl's mother said their daughter had been dead for years due to a wreck on a rainy prom night. He walked up to her grave and his jacket was hanging on it. I think this story is in Ghosts Along the Cumberland book. Also, there is the famous "caged grave" in Russell County... happy ghost hunting!
What's a caged grave?

I went there a few times, back when there was still furniture and an old piano.there was stained glass windows above the regular ones,it was a grand old house. Of course i never saw a ghost, but it sure was a wonderful place for a ghost to be.I enjoyed just looking over at it when i went down 704. Wondering what all it had seen through the years.
then some a$$hole burned it down,,,,what a waste

I used to live in Kentucky.I've been to the petty house several times.People used to come to my house and get me just so i could take them there. It was pretty creepy to be around i used to ride fourwheelers all around when i was younger, but never saw a grave yard.Well anyways my dad told me if u went there at night and went up stairs that the old piano down stairs would start playing all by itself, and u could also here footsteps all through the house.

does anyone know if the house where the wellnitz family was murdered at is haunted? i would think that if any house would be haunted , it would be that one because of the terrible tragedy that occured there.

I agree. And, the rumor of people who cleaned the cemetery and sold the tombstones on the internet. At least the KY state police are investigating it now...

The yellow house that sets on top of Jamestown hill is haunted. The one that is up for sell and has a sign setting in the yard. I have stayed in that house many times and it is haunted. You can hear foot steps walking up and down the steps. A man shot himself in the down stairs bathroom and another man was working heavy machinery lifted the dozer up too high and the roofing over the car port fell on him and killed him. This is definatly a beautiful house, but haunted. I still don't believe the house has been sold yet.

I've heard about her. I used to drive that road to work every day - but 90% of the time I drove it in the daylight. I did hear the story came from a very religious man who didn't even know there was a "ghost" at the time he was telling about seeing a woman on the side of the road. He called his wife on the cell (she was behind him in a different car) and said to stop and check on this woman. She looked, but saw no woman. He said she was dressed as a nurse. That's just the way I heard it.
I've also heard of several toward the Somerset area. Don't remember specifics, but a lot of places near Lake Cumberland. I too think these things are very interesting.
Several years ago a nurse (I can't remember if she worked at Jane Todd orTaylor co) was coming home it was dark and the road was flooded. She didn't see it and drove into it and was washed down the creek. She must of got out of her car it was found not far from the road but her body wasn't found for days later in another county.
