I'd appreciate some help from anyone who has experience with small children. I do not know what to give for gifts to a family member who has a 1yr. old and a 21 month old. Both are boys. I am open to any and all suggestions.
I was wondering what are the best learning toys on the market today for that age that might be able to grow with them? Also don't know what type of toys would be a good idea and fun for that age. But want to gift several toys as well as maybe some kind of educational toy. The little guys don't have much as far as toys or learning stuff, so I am going to do my best to give them a great Christmas.

Please help me decide what to give.

you are really buying some thing to please the momma ,..
if want to stay on her 'good side',.....buy some very expensive clothing from 'carters',...or a bunch of diapers
{it doesn't really matter what you get ,.. as she will probably return it any way }

little kids dont have a clue what things are worth ,..& dont care .
they are happy with almost any thing ,
from a $1.00 plush bean bag critter toy or a noise making plastic cat , robot or animal thing ,
get them some thing from the dollar store ,...

I get what you're saying there. And I'm sure you're right, at least to a degree, but I really would like to get something the kids will like a lot. Not doing it to impress the mom, just care about the babies. And if anything I ever gave got returned for any reason other than they got a duplicate item, then I'd be certain they got no more gifts from me. That would be just awful.

The thing is it's been a few years since I've seen or been privy to what is a good toy for a small child. I'd give a swing set or one of those cars/trucks if they were big enough but that will be a couple years yet. I was hoping someone might have experience with some of the learning toys for small children. I know the "leap frog" thing is a learning toy the child can grow with but don't know much about them yet.

Doesn't anyone out here have small children? Or had small children in the last few years? What will you be giving your kids? Which toys last and are no toxic as well as entertaining!!!

How about a rocking horse? Do they still make those? I just don't know where to start. HELP.

Ideas please!!!!

You can get battery operated ABC/123 learning toys that make sounds to match the letters at WalMart for about 20-25 dollars. As far as the leap pad, I'm not sure they are quiet old enough for that unless they have just came out with something specifically for ur age range. How bout a tricycle, building blocks, or even toddler appropriate tonka toys.

You are probably right on the leap pad. I had not thought of Tonka, that is a good idea and one I am likely to pick up. I am thinking a tricycle might work too, by the time summer comes, they should be big enough for one. And I am looking into the rocking horse too, they may even like a stick horse. I did as a child. I'll look at the ABC thing too. Thanx
