Why would it be fair for the citizens of Adair County to pay back the hospital debt that was stolen by the leader of the hospital? Im aware Adair is as backwards as they come but cant grasp my mind around this.Sounds like someone is trying to cover up the theft of the money. If they pass this tax it will show how corrupt the people in charge are. The people of the community didnt get them into this large debt so why should we have to bail them out it?

The leader of this hospital was an ex state trooper. He had no business making such enormous decisions for all of us. Had a banker or doctor or lawyer been appointed, things would be different. But it is too late to think about that. Truth is there is no covering up left to do. If we pay this tax the banks get their money. If we don't they will be throwing their weight behind a new candidate for county judge. The complete destruction of our county hospital and implosion of our economy was all legal. They dotted the i's and crossed the t's of most of the horrible decisions, and they voted and passed them. Was there some illegal and unethical things done? Sure was. But they were tiny and ended up saving money. The giant stuff that added up and sunk us into debt? That was legitimate, legal, and voted through in accordance with regulations, strait terrible management. We were not swindled out of a hospital, we voted for someone who filled the board of our hospital with people I wouldnt trust to chew gum and walk at the same time. They did what they thought they should. They got a taste of power, liked it, decided they should run things. Here we are. I for one hate to see banks lose money, it's not their fault. When they made the loans how could they ever know that the board would fire the management, hire a fly by night group of five guys from tenn, and literally destroy the place in a couple of years. On the upside though, them fighting her is the only way we get new local government. Come election time columbians will forget everything about this, and otherwise would just vote for her again.

It's the whole country....... 5 years of trillion dollar overspending in a row for this nation.....so now we owe 16 trillion and counting. Our city and county each spend out the budget or run over like it's no big deal and look for ways to raise taxes instead of making cuts. Take the damn budget we have now and gut it here and there for a few years to pay on this debt.....you don't raise taxes on people when we are having the worst times in history as an option to clean up this catastrophic mess. NO MORE TAXES.....

Well I think we all will remember this quite well, because you see the election is in November and so is our taxes to be paid, a good reminder to remember.

You need to sign it so you can have a choice to have this added tax or not......if you want it then sign up to vote for it.....if you don't want the tax then sign up to get the chance to vote no...... never turn down a chance to do the right thing and vote on it.

You folks better sign that petition and try to get it stopped while you have a voice. Tax payers in Taylor county got a hospital tax pushed on them some 40 years ago with the promise of the tax being recalled after initial debt was paid (guess what hospital board makes sure it is never paid for so they can keep collecting tax) and are still paying it and now the citizens don't even own it because it is owned and controlled by Jewish hospital in Louisville and hospital directors collect an extreme yearly salary for doing nothing but screwing the people that gave them they're job. If you have a doubt about this ask a tax payer in Taylor county.

I'm pretty sure that's the plan here. Running the math 40 years would be nice. We will be paying longer. Also since our cje is claiming to support a recall, she will make sure it never really happens. Enjoy the tax! Vote for Ann!

Noticed on Columbia magazine today that mostly all that has called Ann for the tax are the Westlake employees, guess their little paycheck means a lot if their welling to support a big tax for the rest of their lives, and the thing is they may support the tax to keep their jobs, then get laid off and wind up paying a tax for the rest of their lives, jobs don't come with guarantees, unless of course they know something the rest of the community doesn't.

How can she claim to support the recall, she hand picked the board that is calling for the hospital tax. If she is against it then she should be leading the fight to recall it or exploring other options.

She tells the magistrates she doesn't want it sold, wants it to be owned by the county, I guess meaning let the taxpayers pay for our mistakes and spending, seems like the talk changes with whomever their talking too, people would have to be crazy to pay taxes on this bunch of crap, and continue to let the bunch that are running it continue to run it, what for? so they can make more messes for the taxpayers to clean up, it will never be anything more than it is today, as long as it is run by this bunch, and I for one am not for even trying to save it under these conditions.

Do you believe the community deserves to pay for something they didn't do? Of course not! First, they need to go after the people that are responsible for this debt and make them pay. Secondly, remove any board member that was involved in it. This is not like a board for the homemakers or a park, this is supposed to be a professional board with professional, knowledgeable people on it. Until you have this, you're sunk from the onset. A group of Wannabee's, seeking five minutes of fame will never cut it. Spit out your gum and grow up.

We understand one thing, they made a mess, and the sooner we start paying it off, the sooner they can start spending more, on some other stupid project, it never ends.

We need our hospital.. but we need to make the ones that stole the money and took trip and bought nice houses and cars and lived high off the county. If i or anybody else would have stole that money we would e in court over it. We have a wonderful hospital we have just had people in there with there hands in the cookie jar to much. And then when it run out they run too...

The only way to keep the hospital is for someone else to do a take over, as long as the county owns it we will have the same management, same board and same auditors, and isn't that what got us in this mess? we need a lot of changing to take place,we trusted the people in charge to many years, trusted a board, and auditors that didn't have a clue what was going on, all the big raises the management crew took for themselves and family members were approved by someone, who? things like this doesn't happen overnight, we have gotten no answers to where the money dissapered to so far, and we all have our own thoughts, but we also know had people in charge been doing their job it wouldn't have happened, even now what can we expect if we help to save it? new board? new doctors? new management? new auditors, fiancial savvy people that know how to run a business of this nature, or people appointed by the good ole boy system like in the past? we need this hospital, we all know that, we also need these other things in place as well.
