Kentucky is #1 in the country in CHILD ABUSE. How does Adair Co. rate in CHILD NEGLECT when we can't support a warm, clean, safe and modern school building for them?

Hard to believe you would make a comparison between a school building and child neglect. I hope the school is not neglecting our children.

We're neglecting our children by not providing them a safe school.

In a way you're right. We need a new school to replace CWC.

If we vote against the new tax, we will be neglecting our children that go there, and the one's in the future.

I've decided to vote NO on the 6.5 cents tax (hey, let's start calling it what it is).

Adair County school district can reconfigure the grades and utilize ACES, John Adair Elem., and John Adair Middle School. We don't need the added tax burden, which will be around for years to come, for our children to pay for. I know that the state is offering the deal of the century, but it makes no sense to add the tax when people in this county have no money, no jobs, or very low paying jobs. And don't think just because you are a renter and own no property that it won't affect you. If your landlord has to pay more taxes on your house, they will likely raise your rent to absorb the cost.

Vote NO on the 6.5 cent tax. Demand that your school board use their heads and come up with a different solution.

It's actually 5.6%, but the district will only receive 5% because not everyone pays their taxes. In Frankfort, it is called the nickel tax. I want our children to have nice schools like the ones is the surrounding counties.

Why can't the new elementary school be built on to and bring the students from CWC to ACES? Only bigger cities have two elementary schools and we're a far cry from that.

I agree 100%. We are a very small community with no decent jobs or wages. Why on earth do we need two brand new elementary schools? Like I said before, reconfigure the students between the existing schools. Also, classrooms can be held in trailors, it's done all over the country. It's ridiculous that we need two brand new elementary schools within a few feet of one another.

I don't care what percentage the district recieves, I am still taxed 6.5 percent. We already have nice schools, a brand new elementary school, and a fairly new High School with a state of the art gym. Get real, please!

No matter how they rearrange the kids in the current CWC building will have heat, air, plumbing, roof and electrical problems....won't change a thing. I vote yes to give the children of our community a decent school building.

You apparently do not have any children or you would not want them to frezze in the winter and burn up in the summer. I am voting for the nickel tax and I hope others do as well. Those children deserve a new school one that is suffencient and not falling down around them.

If you knew how to comprehend what you are reading, you would know that I'm all for rearanging the grades/schools so that NO children would have to attend school in the CWC building. Yes, children deserve a nice school, and they just got a brand new one. Let's utilize what we have instead of adding to the tax burden, that will be around for our children and their children to pay!

I will still vote NO on more taxes, I hope Adair Countians all do the same.

We can clearly see that you don't know what you are talking about. First of all , it is 5.6% and secondly, there is no John Adair Middle School. It is Adair County Middle School. Not John Adair Elem. it is John Adair Intermediate.

If you could comprehend you would understand that all of the students can't fit in the existing buildings without utilizing CWC.

OK, so I had the numbers backwards (6.5), and I had the names of the schools wrong. I don't have any children in school, so it's no suprise that I got the names wrong. If that is all you have to criticize me on, then I'm doing just fine. The fact remains that we are already taxed to death, the fact remains that there is another solution that doesn't include building another brand new school, and the fact remains that I am still voting NO on the nickle tax!

and,

I have a feeling that the majority of Adair County is doing the same.
