Guns are something that Im very passiont about and I do believe that there should be some laws maintaining them but to try and take them away from the american citizen is just crazy. Guns dont kill people people with any type of weapon kill people if they want to do it. I will be the first person to say I feel horrible about what happen in conneticut and those precious angels died way before their time but banning guns wont stop this from happening ever again

They don't want to ban all guns just assalt weapons. They were banned till 2004 and it needs to be done again. If he just had a 6 shooter he couldn't have killed as many small kids as he did.

maybe,.....
we should go back to locking up the criminals ,..

if you rob or kill some one -- you should go away for a very long time ,...

if you shot or stab somebody ,...you automatically should get the death penalty ,..

if you father a baby out of wedlock ,...you should be forced to support that kid ,..

even if it means you work the next 18 years digging ditches or cleaning toilets -

maybe deadbeat fathers should go to work camps ,....
America is going broke supporting the bastard children of drug dealers

There is absolutely no need for the average American to be able to buy an assault rifle. A gun that can take out an entire first grade class within mere minutes.

it might even lead up to major insurrection or even eventually a civil war ,..
i just dont see Kentuckians or Texans giving up their guns

to wedaoeople:
USA has 25% prison pop. of the world It has not worked to control violence.
Ky has one of the harshes sentencing giodelines in the nation. It has not controlled violence.
WE have laws that put a person in jail for not paying child support.
your last statement is not universally valid.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again then expecting a different result.
We as citizens need to do better.

today we support the illegitimate children and girlfriends of criminals from cradle to grave
-we slap them on the wrist ,when caught

we borrow money from china in order to give free housing to the welfare criminal class ,...

its people like you,... who wish to lavish even more borrowed money to the unproductive ,

liberalism is the only real insanity we have in this country ,..

THe "slap on the wrist" in ky is to give them a felony so that they cannot get loans for education (a better living)or a good paying job. Yes, they should "pull themselves up by their bootstraps" and do better, and many do. But it also creates a culture of getting by doing anything they can legal and illegal. This and other societal factors contribute to this segment of society. The good part is this makes up only a small part (less than 2%) of our country. The money we have borrowed from China has been sold to mainly European Countries. China now holds very little of our debt. They sold it when the last fiscal clift went over.
People like me are running the bussines of the state, pay taxes and will never see any Social Security. I employe people and add money into the local economy.I have raised a family of law abiding. productive people. I vote and know the issues. I do no call myself a liberal or a conservative. I take each issues on its' own merits. I do know that what we have been doing as a nation is not working, and of it.

A scenario that police feared has come true

in the thick of holiday season two dozen inmates were freed from a county jail that could no longer afford to hold them.
Less than an hour after one low-level offender walked out, authorities say, he was demanding that a bank teller hand over money.

In a time of budget cuts, cases where inmates get out of jail with little punishment only to commit more serious crimes shortly after their release have become all too common, authorities say.

Many in law enforcement predicted this would happen, and it could get worse if the nation goes over the so-called fiscal cliff.

Actually, since Australia enacted it's gun control laws, their gun crime rate dropped significantly.

Chicago reached “a tragic number” today, according to Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy: Its homicide total for the year hit 500, the highest annual total since 2008.

The city's latest homicide occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday when Nathaniel T. Jackson, 40, an alleged gang member with a lengthy arrest record, was gunned down outside a store in the Austin neighborhood.

As of Thursday night, homicides were up 17 percent over last year in Chicago and shootings had increased by 11 percent, according to police statistics. Earlier this fall, Chicago already exceeded the number of homicides that occurred last year, but this is the first time the city { there were approximately 290 other gun related deaths ' not classified as 'murder'}

NONE of these murders were committed with a legally owned gun ,..

none of the shooters were NRA members
has had 500 or more murders since the 512 in 2008.
