Yeah, and the CKNJ and all other local small town papers who have been doing this type of reporting for years.

If you don't like it, no one makes you buy it and read it. Has your name been in there for something that embarrased you?:.)

I pick it up when I want gossip, kinda like a National Enquirer but when I want what is REALLY going on I get the "real" paper

I'm glad we finally have a paper that post all the news. The adair progress never has real stories in it, they are afraid of making someone mad. It's like 92.7 the wave, tells weather and wrecks, so you can avoid the area. Did you read about the school board meeting with the parents, guess the adaair progress didn't think it was important enough to print. Although the school board beat around the bush and blamed the kids. I'm glad some parents are trying to stand up for whats right nobody else will.

I have to commend Sharon. I think she does an outstanding job with the Community Voice. I like of coverage of different things and like you said she's not afraid to cover it. In the beginning I wondered if she would remain neutral and print whatever the story was and whoever it consisted of and she has. I hope she always does. That's what you call a newspaper. I guess none of us really like seeing our families names in public record but we all have to admit, like it or not, we read it. And yes, I've had somone's name in my family in there one time. Hope I don't see it again.

Amen Reader!! My family has also been in there but it is because THEY chose to break the law. That is part of the consequences (people finding out your business) when you break the law

Most of your larger cities have been running articles of public records for years. Adair County want's everything kept a secret,so that's where the rumors and gossip start. I enjoy reading the information that just states public record.

I love the community voice, and actually have a subscription to it but until recently I did not know how someone could be hurt by it. My daughter's Dad and I recently got a divorce and of course those are a matter of public record. The kids at my child's school were following the Dogwood series of stories in that paper for their reading class. In addition to that they also read the "nosey" section and because the filing of our divorce showed up in there it hurt her so bad because the other children were talking about it and to her about it that she didn't want to go to school. I started thinking about how many other children who had parents in there for things that were criminal had been hurt also. It is sad that innocent people have to be hurt by this so called "Freedom of Speech and Information, after all "It is Public Record." I will cancel and not be renewing my subscription. I do think that they present an unbiased coverage of the news. However you look at it "Public Record" or not it is a big pot to stir sh-- in.

I am sorry your daughter was offended by this. However, you didn't have a problem with this paper when it was other families names in there, because you admitted to having a subscription for yourself. This paper is known to print the much deeper gossip. Isn't that why you had the subscription?

I can sympathize with you on this one. It's hard for children to go through issues when their parents divorce much less reading it in class. However, I would hold the teacher responsible that allowed your child or any child for that matter to read any of the Public Record in a newspaper. I call that irresponsible on the teacher's part.

I think newspapers should post public records. It is good for employers, parents, insurance companies, banks, etc. and all of us to know who is breaking the law and what crimes they commit. If you don't want to see your name, then don't break the law.

I believe the person who wrote about the kids reading the public record in class was telling a big fat lie. The divorce itself is the worst part for a child because parents use the children to hurt each other.

Don't believe a word of it. But, even if it happened...YOU/your EX got the divorce and it is PUBLIC so deal with it and teach your children how. First of all, I would bet 50% of her classmates are from divorced parents so i doubt they were made fun of.

We were trying to deal with it and that is all she needed to have to face it down at school from a bunch of cruel 11 year olds that found out because they read it in the newspaper AT SCHOOL right there in front of her.
