Does anyone have any information on the Juvenile Facility in Columbia, Ky.? Good or Bad... My nephew is suppose to be going there so I was wondering if abuse or anything rough takes place there... Thanks for you time in advance.

Your Nephew will be fine! Its probably safer to be in Adair ydc then to be in his own neighborhood!

Your nephew will be fine as long as he follows the rules. May I ask how long he will have to stay?

I've taught out there. I'm empressed with the facility and the discipline instilled. Education is mandatory and conversation is allowed to some degree. The staff is mainly empathetic and the kids receive the attention they need. I can imagine it COULD be much harder on them than it is. I have also been to Youth Challenge, headquartered at Ft. Knox. They do a fine job there, and it should be a consideration for parents with children who are resistent to parental discipline in the traditional sense. Either facility should allow a site visit with an appointment made.

It's a fine facility. Your nephew will be fine as long as he follows the rules. He will be treated well and will be better off there than on the street. No need to worry about him. There is no abuse of the residents and they are not mistreated. There are some wonderful youth workers there who really care about the kids.

He will be fine as long as you keep him away from Brandon Spires. Its hard to believe that they let someone who has a temper the way he does work there with kids. He has said some very hateful things that were out of line to some of the other kids that are there.

Lol, you have nothing to worry about. My brother use to work there, and it isn't as bad as some other kids would make it out to be. It's actually a nice structured environment that teaches discipline and it also teaches kids to follow rules. No abuse takes place, and the only thing that may seem rough there, would be restraining a kid when they're out of control, or something like that, but they restrain them in a way that doesn't hurt at all. Your nephew will be fine.=)

You have to be certified in a few things before you can work there, so you'll probably have to spend 6 weeks at EKU learning those things.
