if you have been accepted here in columbia then you must live in the new housing areas. Its sad, but there are two columbias, the new areas with modern thinking and acceptance of different races and lifestyles, and OLD columbia. If you are not born and bred white/straight/catholic/german ...well you should just move on. The really sad part is that these people don't want to admit, even to themselves, that they are now in the minority here and thier numbers shrink more every day. Hopefully we can start voting in newcommers for office, people that want to build a future for ALL columbians and not just keep running the good-ole-boy network we have now.
So you moved to Columbia because you loved the way it was. Now all you want to do is change it? Perfect.

the good-ole-boys developed the land and built housing complexes for us to move into. They sold us the houses. If they did not want us here why did they do all that?
I'm sorry, but you can't get our money without getting us with it. YOU changed columbia and then sold it to us. YOU are responsible for the change.

Thanks for sharing your story, it was very refreshing.:)
Welcome to Columbia, Best wishes!!
Just curious why they need to feel welcomed for their 'lifestyle choice'?
What they ya'al do sexually is your business. Could care less. You are
welcome in the community just so long as you don't ask the rest of us
to accept your sexuality. As ours is--is as yours should be--behind closed
doors. How you do sex things is irrelevant---for you and us.
Why should you be made to feel welcomed or unwelcomed?

Your completely entitled to your opinion. I'm also entitled to mine and mine is that you need to learn how to spell and make complete coherent sentences before posting here. All you're accomplishing is showing your lack of intelligence and education with what you (tried) to say.
Somebody really should have stopped you. ;-)

Hi steak. My lifestyle choice was to move to Columbia. And being welcomed for that choice was very much appreciated. I have never brought sex or as you called it "sex things" into the conversation as I don't see how that had anything to do with this conversation in any context. Being gay or lesbian ultimately has nothing to do with the act of sex. If you were a virgin would it mean you were any less straight than (I assume) you are?
And to answer your last question, because welcoming people to your town is the way you make them feel comfortable and hopefully get to know them and let them get to know you. It's the way that people are encouraged to get involved in their community and support local businesses, etc.
Have a good evening steak.

Personally I'd rather have someone in a same-sex relationship living in my neighborhood than some coward hiding behind a fake screen name to spew their hate.

It's really sad what anonymity can turn grown people into.

You're continuing to prove the point I made in my response to your last incomprehensible post, if you want anyone to take you or your comments seriously then learn to at minimum, make some sort of sense when you speak.
You do have enough intelligence to notice I have not once said anything mean or disrespectful to you or called you names, right?
And to the very nice & nonjudgmental people that have participated in this thread, the only reason I do actually respond to this person is mainly because I feel sorry for them but I will admit its also quite humorous to see what ignorant comment "just stop me" will come up with next.

You're so right Justin. I don't even mind someone hiding behind fake screen names as long as they can carry on an intelligent conversation, even if they have some issue with me. I respect everyone's right to their opinion however it's sad to see when the only thing a person can do is to say mean and hurtful things.
And when I refer to being unintelligent or someone being uneducated I'm not referring to how much schooling a person has had, I am referring to the ability to make sense and not having to resort to name calling to try to convey their feelings.
Have a Good Friday Justin!

I lived in Columbia at age 10 and 11.I was best friends to Guy Rhodes(before that).I loved that town then.I dont live there now unfortunately.I just wish there was a town like it was back then. You know when they had real families and surrounded by others like themselves.Like Mayberry in Andy Griffith. But NOT full of snobs, and weirdies.WHY cant people accept what I WANT?.If you dont like it,you can....lol

The snobs and weirdos really are everywhere, and if there aren't any snobs in the town, I'd more be afraid of my house getting shot up....

The town is only of snobs if you allow them to affect your day. They'll always be snobby, but they don't always have to matter. The weirdos are less easy to ignore, because some of that sh!t freaks me out. But, it's still the "mayberry" as long as you allow it. 90% of life is perception, 10% is chance. It's all what you make of it at the end of the day. Columbia rocks, with our without the snobs.(I prefer them to be here as opposed to alternative lol)

I agree, great comment.I just wish people would not judge others because they got lucky in life ,not to say that there's effort required, but I know chance can have a large impact on one's life.See that multiple realities guy in men in black 3?haha.

I tried the gay experiment once. My sausage smelled like kraut and my potato pancake tasted like horse radish.
