I heard Mariachi's is taking over the old Farmer's Inn between Columbia & Millstadt. They are supposed to have good reasonably priced Mexican food. Anybody know when they are opening?

I hadnt heard that. I love mexican food especially tequilas. Whoever takes over I wish them luck, it seems that location has a real hard time, a lot of failed restaurants. Is mariachis a chain?

Yes, from what I understand Mariachi's is a chain and has two locations right now-one in Belleville and another in Fairview.

I grew up 2 miles from there. That place is a tough location to have a bussiness.

Saw them painting the outside of the building yesterday. The owner says they should be open in 2-3 weeks.

This is the location at the corner of 158 and Triple Lakes Rd.(The Old Farmer's Inn)

I figured I'd give them a try on the first day and happened to be the first customer. The food and service were great despite it being the first day. Of course there can be a few oddities with a new place like the the soda company hasn't calibrated the machines yet so they have to use 2 liter bottles for a couple days. That shouldn't be an issue for those seeking their margaritas made with good quality Tequila made from Agave. I hope they do well and add an outdoor area.

I drove by Mariachi's yesterday evening, and they were packed!! If they can keep doing that, they should have no problem surviving in that location.

Well........we tried it last night and it was really delicious!! The margaritas were really good. Let me tell ya....if MY kids say it's really good then you know it is. They don't eat anything except cheeseburgers and chicken strips when we go out to eat but last night we made them try something that was actually Mexican. They loved it!!! Two thumbs up!

We haven't been yet because of hubby's Atkins diet, but it was packed again last night when we drove by. They must be doing something right!

The prices are about the same as Tequilas. My husband got a huge margarita so that added to our bill..........it wasn't too bad price-wise though.
Here's their website. I think the prices are on the menu.

They don't have the Millstadt location on the website yet but it should be the same at either the Belleville or the Fairview Heights locations.

I guess I forgot to mention in my post above that the food was very good. If you've ever dined at the Bellevegas location it's the same great food, great service, and excellent drinks. They are a bit higher than Tequila's or Margaritas but the food is a notch or two better. Since they have such good drinks I think it would be wise for them to create a fenced patio area in the back. Something like a Mexican version of a beer garden.

While I agree, that will also take away some of their parking. However, with people standing/sitting on the deck/porch on the front of the building, it also makes it difficult to see oncoming traffic on 158 when you're trying to pull out off of Triple Lakes Road. I think the "beer garden" in back would be a safer choice, even if they have to take away a couple of parking spots.
