Bar Crowd

I am new to Columbia, give me an idea of the bar demographic's. What crowd hangs out where?

tiny's - general lowlifes and drunk girls. they have a pretty traditional columbia following. they have karaoke (or they used to on certain nights). there's a nice back room and patio when those aren't rented out. everytime i have been there i feel dirty and see the exact same people acting the exact same amount of stupid.

columbia city saloon - from my experience the crowd varies by the bands they bring in and whether it's a league night or not (bowling alley). mixed bag with a few regulars.

gruchala's - the over 60 crowd with some middle-aged in there from time to time. pretty quiet most of the time.

grill and grape - snobs. mostly st. louis transplants that think they've moved to columbia to class it up by drinking overpriced wine and swapping wives.

fountain - i have no idea who goes to the fountain enough to keep it open. i am always shocked to drive past and see cars there.

Fountain is salt of the earth. Some of the best people Monroe county has to offer. It's one of, if not the oldest bar operating in the county.

Go to Waterloo and there are 10+ bars to go too, usually with similar demographics that the person said about Columbia.
I want to give a warning to you as well..... Cops in Columbia would rather pull over a drunk driver than save an old woman, holding her six month old grand baby, while being mugged by a heroin crazed crack head.

Why do Columbia police radar on 255 at night with their lights off? Instead of patrolling the residential neighborhoods?

Where is Fountain? How about Who Dat's and the bar near Weber & 255?

Been to BoBeck's and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere but not sure about cops and rt 3, thoughts?

fountain is out on bluff road heading towards old valmeyer. the road takes a turn and there it is.

who dats is pretty small, but the crowd they draw for the clam bakes seems to be a fun group. i'd probably put them with the grill and grape people, but maybe slightly less snobby?

i forgot about sport's page on old rt 3. used to be the place to go if you were under 21. really dedicated drinkers. more of a dupo/east carondelet crowd than columbia.

bobecks is waterloo. it's nice enough with a rotating crowd.

there's also bullys, i guess. they have a bar, now, but not sure if anyone goes there for that.

Top Shooters on Rt3, nice eye candy servers, mostly male clientele.

Bully's has 1/2 drafts on Mon and Thur. Plus some good food specials and it is pretty good.

Who Dats is Souhern Food, small but friendly crowd when it is busy.

Tiny's has crappy serivce and your regular drunks in there everyday. Food is hit or miss and the front bar is a dump

Grill and Grape, good bartenders and it tends to get packed. But the people in there have JOBS and don't depend on dives like next door. They run good food and drink specials through out the week.

Gruchalas has great fried chicken on Sundays, but a very gereatric crowd of drinkers and diners.

City Saloon has decent food, but it is lacking in service, when there is one bartender for the whole place and it gets busy.

But be careful, Chief Joe Edwards does not like drinkers and likes to run DUI enforcment.

I used to live in Columbia, what happened to Tiny's? It seems that whenever anything is written about it, the consences seems to be it is a dump with nothing but a bunch of regular drunks. I don't know if it is the same guy that owns it, but at one time he used to use airplane bottles to mix his drinks. If it is the same guy then he really doesn't have a clue how to run a buisness if it has gone down that bad. Too bad, ued to be a fun place.

Yeah, Tiny's has become a real SH*T hole. Fights all the time and the regulars in there are a bunch of asses. Plus the place stinks like a toilet. Service has gone way down and so has the total quality of the place.
