The new subdivision concept takes a paramilitery skew. Garrisons, food pantry style bunkers, off grid energy, and own water source. Evacuation tunnels and spotter towers. Lots start at 90,000 payable in hard currency only, ex military 10 per cent discount
Now that is a stupid idea, but maybe scalable and sellable. Which realtor agent has it listed.

Does anyone know if there are any nice subdivisions planned in the future? Besides joyview, briar lake, and Wernings. I know that it is a bad economy but am hoping to build a new home in a few years and would like to build on a nice lot.(by nice lot I mean not in a farm field facing another house in the backyard). It seems all of the subdivisions in Columbia are very plain. Any news would be appreciated.
Speaking of Briar Lake, why is it called that??? There isn't even a lake up there! Talk about false advertising.

You should check out Stone Crest subdivision south of Columbia (off of D Road) for something that's really nice and private. It has a lake, too. Good luck.

Stone Crest is a beautiful subdivision. I have considered that location so I called the court house to find out the real estate taxes on the smallest house and they run 8,500 to 12,000 The houses have to be 90% brick/stone and 2300 for a ranch and much bigger for a 2 story. I just can't justify spending almost 1,000 a month to live in my own house on real estate taxes. It is such a shame that Illinois politicans have destroyed this State.
