Who are the right people to sleep with to get a kid on the atarting roster? Sounds pretty easy to me. You aren't bitter are you?

Bitter? no, disgusted yes, my wife and I have realized a lot since moving here and if your not kissing the right ass here in this town, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye if you want your kids to play sports. We heard what a family town this place is and a great place for your kids to play sports we should've stayed where we were, and believe me we will be going back columbia is no place to raise a family and raise your children with morales.

Does your child playing sports control your approval of the town? Have you taught the child the hard lessons of life that sometimes they don't always get what they want, or that it might take more work effort on their part?

I'm sorry you're not happy with the way things are going. You're wrong though, this is a wonderful place to raise a family. I'm glad you've choosen to move back to a place where you will be honestly happy.

You have proven zero merit to your accusations. Is your child good enough? Or should they just be given a starting spot. Good bye and good luck at your next stop.

It is bad, I feel sorry for some of my friends that should be playing, but since their family is not from Columbia they get cut. There have been too many times kids have been caught drinking or doing drugs and those who have connections stay on team but the others get cut. I say No to those that can't commit themselves to not being a drunk or a doper but only to those that can commit to the team.

if your kids are anything like you, they should probably concentrate on academics and not sports.

Hey if you don't want your kid to be cut move to a smaller town - I heard New Athens won't cut your kid. Your kid will make the team down there - will probably still sit the bench as they play short because they suck - but you will get to see them on a team.

I think it's become obvious who is sleeping with the right people here. It's apparent that you get that 'trophy' Trophy. Not a very pleasant thought actually.

There are not that many "Trophys" in Columbia. This town is sorely lacking. Drunks and cheaters don't fit the bill and there are a ton of those in town..........

This sort of accusation happens in every town when it comes to competitive sports. It's not limited in any capacity to Columbia

In little league, it's about whether or not every kid gets the same amount of playing time. In junior high and high school, it's about who makes the team and whose a starter.

Most of the time it comes down to parents who believe little Johnny is going to be a major leaguer some day, and not making the high school team derails their personal dreams for their own children. It's hard for some parents to cope with the fact that their children just aren't all-star athletes.

It's not the end of the world. Move on and realize most kids forget their high school days after they go to college or move on with their lives to the next step... it's not going to traumatize them.

Actually, there are plenty of kids in columbia who are "capable" of making a team, I know of people who play on incredible select teams in St. Louis and their child was not chosen for Columbia teams, it has NOTHING to do with talent. In the claustrophobic area of columbia, it all comes down to if you are "liked" in the town, a coaches child slipped and let that out (whoops) and I'm pretty sure the majority of the parents over there that ARE level headed enough to accept the fact that their child did not make the team there is a reason, but if their child is already playing on remarkable teams in st. louis there is NO reason they should not be selected in that town.. it's who you are over there and whose ass you are kissing.. like it or not that is the way it goes there.. and it's become comical... watching what the town is turning into.

you believe some lameass kid and his comment? you are truly delusional. Fu Columbians, this forum is moronic.

I left that rat hole for a reason and I am going to bring in lowlifes from Dupo and Crackokia to take over your town in my low income rentals. Big fish in a small pond mentality, I hate you people and I am going to get you in the end.

I don't know much about the school's sport teams.. But if a child was doing well enough to play on (and was playing on) "incredible select teams in St. Louis", why would it matter if they play on Columbia's school team?

"watching what the town is turning into"... I believe the town is the same as it's always been. Maybe what you're saying is true, maybe it's not. I've never personally experienced your issues. I'm sorry you don't like it and feel the way you feel... But I don't feel sorry for you. You already said you were moving back, so move on with life and forget your troubles with Columbia.

To be honest with you, I wouldn't be one bit suprised if you were the highschooler yourself, with all of your complaining. Is that what you want to teach your child? "If you don't like the way something is, anonymously gossip and complain so that others with the same negative feelings can chime in and make you feel better?"

Who are you trying to convince Ballwin, us on Topix, or yourself?!?

EVERY thread you respond on, you just have to throw it in there: "I hate this town, I left this town, blah blah blah". WE GET IT!!

If you "hated us" so much, you wouldn't spend your time stalking our town's (and waterloo) topix. You wouldn't ramble your mouth off over and over again. You'd move on with life, but you don't seem to really be interested in much outside of what's going on in Columbia. Enough!(not that you'll really listen, you just gotta get that Columbia Topix fix daily, don't ya?)

I hate Ballwin too and he hates himself. He is bipolar you know, switching from Fenton to Ballwin daily. It just depends on which gas station needs me to work the register that day as to how my IP address reads that day. QT treats me good :)

It is a known fact, that most of the Columbia coaches don't have a clue. One of the teachers that coach, coaches freshman football, JV girls basketball and boys basesball. He SUCKS at all 3. Does not have a clue about strategies of any of the 3. Can you say coaching for the money to build my salary instead of coaching because you love the game and want to help ALL players Approx 60 - 70 percent of all athletes(boys and girls) at Columbia quit between their freshman year to their senior year. Coaches at Columbia can't seem to keep players on their teams. We have had some winning teams in Columbia, but usually our opponents aren't that good. Jr. High, Freshman, and JV teams are for building your Varsity teams for the future. Not win at all cost. Thats why most athletes quit!!!!
