Not a big fan. When i took my daughter to columbia kinder college i thought that i was getting the best school there was for little ones. i thought that truely it would be a good place for her to go and interact with other kids her own age. I would take her there 2 half days a week and pick her up before 12:30 so that she would not have to take a nap there. I showed up to pick her up and she was laying down for a nap.. i was upset because that was not the time they usually took naps. The teacher instantly tells me, "you're going to be mad". I pick up my daughter from the cot she wasn't supposed to be on and the teacher tells me "look at her forhead". My daughter had a huge goose egg knot on her forehead. The teacher then proceeds to tell me "oh well i told her to stop/slow down/ blah blah blah". Accidents happen i understand, especially with a two year old. But the part that got me really really upset is that when she got hurt that bad, no one called me. My daughter wasn't there because no one else could watch her, she was there to have fun. Then.. to make matters even worse, they put her down for a nap directly after this incident, a nap she wasn't even supposed to take there. If she had hit her head harder than they had thought, and had a concusion.. my daughter could have slipped into a coma. I know that is a little dramatic to think, but its possible. I took her home and went back to the school to get her things because at that point i knew i didn't want her going back. When i got there the teacher insisted that i talk to the directed, assuming she may make the situation better. She proceeded to tell me that they were short their normal amount of teachers, and that two year olds "are hard to keep under control". Her excuse as to why the report hadn't been made (which they are supposed to do with EVERY injury) is that again, the teacher was busy and didn't have help so therefore didn't have time to write or call, and that eventually they would have found time to do those very important things.
I later found out from the teacher that my daughter was running (as two year olds do) but someone had left a dolly full of foldable tables out in the area where the children are, and she ran right into it. Leaving that out was neglectful. Thank god it didn't fall or something else way worse, but those are little things that should NEVER happen at the "best daycare/learning institution" EVER.
Their web cameras suck.. and sadly the only real thing you can see, because i could never see my daughter, were the smaller babies.. 6 months old maybe.. just sitting at a table watching everything else because NO ONE attends to them for long periods of time.
I just think you should really really look into a place like that before you leave your children's safety with them. That goes for any place. It only takes one accident for something to change your childs whole life. i wish you the best of luck finding a place that works well for you and your family.

I've heard that powerhaus? is a good place. i think thats what its called, its across from dairy queen next to the soccer fields.

Creative Kids in Columbia is the best learning center in town. So much better than PowerHaus!

My boys went to Power Haus after going to Kinder College and we were very happy with the staff and attention they received. Miss Angie at Powerhaus is awesome. Don't know anything about Creative Kids but they had better be Tip Top to be "so much better than Powerhaus"

They are better. My kids both went there for 5+ years. One of my kids went to PowerHaus for a couple of summers and while he liked it, it was just not the same as Creative Kids. The kids run around with not much structure. My child was hurt one day while playing soccer and instead of calling me to tell me about it, they had him put ice on it and sit at the computer for the rest of the day. It was very swollen by the time I got there and was told that they probably should have called me earlier but he wasn't complaining so .... Like "Mother" above, it may not have been life threatening but I should have known about it earlier. He sat there for 3-4 hours waiting for me when I could have come earlier had I known. "So much better" is an understatement. The teachers and owner at Creative Kids have been wonderful to us and we continue to stay in touch with them to this day.

Both of my children attended Hilltop Kids (in the church behind the Oerter Park soccer fields) and it was a wonderful experience all the way around. I believe Kris Dehn is still the director there, if you're interested in contacting her for a tour.

I looked into Daycares a few months back and Hilltop seemed to have the best reviews from people here in Columbia. The staff there is great especially Darla.. she is wonderful with kids of all ages.

I would be careful here. I have a friend that works for Parkview and she has had students that go this sitter that complain that the sitter's kid beats up on all the other smaller kids there. Not enough supervision from what I hear.

I know who wrote this comment. My kids that I allow to play outside are 7 and 8 not 2,3, and 4. Dr. B and Mr. Langraf both gave me a recommendation.

I am certain that there are bad stories that could be told about every daycare center. You get an employee that you end up firing or a child that acts up with other children. Of course, there are stories that are exaggerated, too.

Boys will be boys. I have witnessed the same things happen on the playground @ school. I have had this person watch my children in the past & was very much impressed w/ the nice clean environment & the care she provided for my children. My job relocated me and I had to take my children closer to my job or my children would still be there.
