I need a GOOD attorney that practices family law that has experience dealing with the courts in Monroe County over "college support". Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I spent the money for what I got!! It all comes down to what are you welling to spend for what you want!! He was great with me and in the long run I got everything what I asked for! I would not have not trade it for nothing!!! Good Luck!!

you need someone who practices law in Illinois and IS LOCATED in Monroe county, it's a close knit courthouse and outsiders are outsiders.

If it your child and your responsibility then both parents should split. The child does what she/he can but the dad can't get off like he thinks he is still responsible. Any judge will make you pay or whomever pay because it's your child. No getting off which ever parent.

To those of you saying this parent (whom you're assuming is a Dad) is a deadbeat and needs to pay. WRONG! A parent cannot be forced to pay for college expenses if the parents are still married, therefore they should not be forced to pay if they are divorced. Kids are not entitled to a college education paid for by parents. It's each individual's choice. BTW - I'm female.

PS - and what if this kid is going to a college that the parent doesn't approve of? That happened to a friend, and he still had to pay. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

it's the child's choice not the parent and I'm sure it's a good college he is just pissed cuz he wasn't involved its his child no matter what he needs to

if your asking this question you must be divorced already? correct? and if your divorced already which is why you would be asking the question... why wouldn't you just use the same lawyer that did your divorce... I'm not sure if it's a male or female starting this post, but that "child or adult if he/she is 18" is still YOUR child correct? wouldn't you want what is best for him/her? why would you even "fight" over this? they should put in a part and your and the mother/father should also pitch in... it's your childs education... this is the problem with our world, the parents are no longer involved in their childs life once a divorce happens the other spouse who "does NOT" get custody tried to punish the one who left them and really in all reality they punish the children BADLY... get over yourself, and buck up and pay what you need to... dumbass!!
thanks dad

WRONG - I am paying for the majority of my children's education. I'm just saying they don't have a 'right' to that. It's each parent's choice.

I agree with Nope. My husband and I have 5 kids. There is no way we can pay for their college. We can support them by allowing them to continue living at home and by encouraging them; but we cannot, nor are we obligated to, pay their college for them. They have been encouraged to work hard throughout their school life so they can earn scholarships, to save money as they have worked, and student loans will cover the rest. No parent should be obligated to pay for their child's college. If a parent chooses to pay, that's okay. But overall, I feel kids are handed too much in our society.
